Hi guy's

One of my friends was diagnosed with the following...his right leg and foot swells up because of this...any one had similar experience?

There is a narrowing of the inter vertebral spaces present mostly on L4/L5 and L5/S1. of anders om

Here is narrowing of the intervertebral spaces, most present most pronounced at the level L5/S1

There is minor/limited anterolisthesis of L5 regarding S1.

It would appear here are signs of a possible spondylosis at the level L5/S1.

It sounds to me like your friend has possible spondylolisthesis (vs spondylolysis) with those symptoms. I have had a unilateral pars defect (spondylolysis) for years, however it is type 2 isthmic defect of the pars interarticularis with no slippage of the vertebrae. There are many different variations of pars defects (bilateral/unilateral) and many different types to of each of those, which in turn can lead to spondylolisthesis. This is a very deep subject, so the best course of action is to see an orthopedic doctor and get his or her thoughts on the subject. I went through half a dozen before I found a very very good one who was a spine specialist. I'm unfamiliar with the leg and foot swelling, however, I know it can cause heat or cold sensations as well as pain in one leg as a result of the condition (often the same symptoms of sciatica). Has your friend been to the doc yet?

If the doctor already diagnosed your friend with spondylolysis then it can be manageable with proper treatment depending on the details of the type and severity of the condition. If your friend is a bodybuilder or does in fact work out then he or she will certainly have to modify the way they do certain things and/or cut out specific activities altogether. It has taken me years to figure out my own formula for dealing with my injury and with the proper treatment protocol and using a level head on my part, I am still able to live a full, active life. Hope that helps and I wish you and your friend all the best.

Kyros

EDIT: I saw you wrote spondylosis and not spondylolysis. In that case it sounds like they certainly could have a degenerative oseoarthritis condition. They are all similar, however, and can have similar symptoms. Again a visit to the doc is in order to sort through his or her options.
