Are you new to lexapro? Just try it by itself like Stewie said and that's all you should need.
I know people on this forum shit on lexapro and ssris, but lexapro got me through some of the darkest times of my life. I was pretty close minded to ssris and hesitated a lot to take it. I think I filled the prescription and it literally sat there for months. But then eventually ended up committing to it and surely enough it worked. And I was able to come off it too without much difficulties.
Your doctor can augment it with other meds depending on the diagnosis he is treating, if lexapro is not enough; but it is always best to stick with drugs we have good real world data about ..

Progesterone upregulates GABA-A, in which stimulates the synthesis of allopregnanolone, a metabolite of progesterone that acts as a calming neurotransmitter.
Personally, I'd check her sex hormones--prolactin, progesterone, testosterone, total estrogens and independently estradiol. Wouldn't hurt to check her thyroid parameters. While she's at it, an anemia panel.
