Ok
understand im on a college students budget. What would be a source of simple carbs after workouts with my shake besides the obvious dextrose and maltodextrin?? Any suggestions appreciated. Just something to produce a insulinagenic effect

We have "Super Targets" out here in CO and I noticed a 1gal jug of Tropical Punch Hi-C for like 99cents there.

There's some bang for the buck post workout juice for ya!
 
why can't u afford dextrose?

its like 10 bucks for 11 lbs.

but i guess a gatorade would work as well

i think everything suggested so far is more expensive than dextrose on a per serving basis..

..i would go with dextrose bro..

You can find large discount containers of fruit juice in most
stores. Just pick what's on sale if you're not picky about the
taste. Mix in a few scoops of protein powder and you will
have a good post-workout shake. Read the labels to figure
out how many simply carbs you're getting. I usually use
V-8 fruit juices, about 60 grams of strawberry-flavored protein
powder and a few ice cubes and set the blender on high. :)
 
Thanks for helping me out guys, no it wasnt an excuse im just tryin to use my money more effictively in "other areas" and cutting back on others. Il try to fruit juice with protein powder one billbomb suggested that sounded pretty good!
 
Would buying glucose or maltodextrin in bulk be cheaper than buy fruit juices?

I think if you look at the quantity per serving with respect to price you will find that you may appear to spend more on the maltodextrin or glucose but it would last you many months because you would only need a tablespoon or two. So overall it would be the better value.
