All things insulin- my take, opinion and experience.

I pinned slin (humalog) and HGH at 5:15pm yesterday and when I sat down to eat my PWO meal at 6:30pm my BG was 91. At 5:15pm prior to insulin and HGH my BG was 127.

Not saying this is right or wrong, just giving you data.
Data is always appreciated and very helpful.

I assume the 5:15 reading of 127 is because of the carbs that were consumed prior to training or throughout the day.

The post workout reading is more in line with what I was expecting from my reading.

Think im just going to keep my post workout meal to 1lb ground turkey since my blood glucose is still higher than I'd like. I'll take my blood sugar reading again in 2 hours

Might scale back my carbs/iu slightly tommorow to try to get my post workout reading into the 90s

At 4:15 (90BG) I started eating my pre workout meal (130g carbs) and my body was still working on it. I hate working out hungry or feeling like I haven’t ate in a while so my pre meal is fairly close to gym time. Playing around with the idea of adding low dose of log with that meal.
Still just in the tracking phases of it all looking for patterns and where I might could benefit from the added insulin besides pre workout.

yeah i'd rather overtest as well, especially in the beginning when i'm still trying to get the right carb/iu ratio dialed in, but even long term testing will show you if insulin resistance is building. There's also probably some interesting charting that could be done with blood glucose readings, carb intakes and different insulin peak times.

Keep us updated brotha!
I'm actually dropping weight lol. I'm finding it much harder to put down calories with only trace fats.

I treat nolvalin r as having an 8 hour elimination window, so during that period I'm basically just eating 99% lean turkey, oats, whey protein, and of course my intra workout shake. Going to look into adding more rice into my diet, particularly white rice.

I will say though even though it's only been a couple days--the recomp effects with tren, gh, and relatively low dose slin are quite impressive. I do feel like I'm leaning out quite nicely, even though this wasn't the original goal. I'll get the diet fixed with more calories. The goal Is 10lbs muscle within a year, while dropping 2% bf, then I'll just focus on building muscle maturity and bringing up the weak points. I think it's realistic.

Blood sugar readings still coming in around 93-94 in the mornings. Yesterday I dropped my pre and intra workout carbs down to 150g and my post workout blood glucose reading came back at 94 so I'm pretty happy with that

I'm actually dropping weight lo

Same. After two high days I was Down 4lbs on the scale. After 2 high days and 1 low day I’m down 7lbs on the scale. Trying to ride it out for the week before making adjustments.

Gonna make adjustments this weekend and go from there. Weird to see though.

You guys should start a log.

Probably a good idea, or maybe a seperate discussion thread that way we don't clog up/hijack yours.

I just figure that your thread will serve as a good reference point for many going forward---especially to those that are considering incorporating insulin and/or who are new to it (like myself), so a few anecdotal data reports could be beneficial, although i agree these experiences should probably be kept brief for the sake of keeping the thread on track.

This is a great thread though. I've learned a ton from it, and am still in the process of learning and dialing in the right protocol

That’s exactly what I was getting at. I wanted this to serve as a thread for everyone to share their knowledge past, present and future on all things insulin.

Any logs I believe should be kept there. Questions of course are perfect for here…

Which leads to- the weight fluctuation is normal as you are re-allocating glucose, sodium and water when you add insulin. More of it is getting inside the muscle. It will level out over time so enjoy it now.

I would also increase fluids, electrolytes and sodium pre workout while using insulin to help lean into this process.

Fats- you can still have fats that day. Just ensure it’s after the insulin and PWO window. Add a little olive or MAC oil to your meals and/or throw in some 96/4 lean grass fed beef. What matters is nutrient timing.

Insulin causes cholesterol to increase or insulin is bad for cholesterol. Noticed since starting cholesterol went up. A while back in a thread mentioned this and Luki said no. Well now I know it does. Can it be managed with statins, of course. People need to know it does effect cholesterol .

Not exactly. You are likely becoming insulin resistant which “may” contribute to your problem. It’s not always causation by association. Insulin resistance can lead to a decrease in HDL cholesterol levels

Can you post your full lipid results?

They're in a folder somewhere in a bookshlf I save. Since added insulin total went up the most , along with ldl a lot. started injecting trt, and cycling, in 2014. Cholestrol has been great except hdl , in that time, where it went down to 18-20, that was from aas.

Got it up to 25 using nicain in the form of nicotonic acid, but that raised ast, alt, but total and ldl was fine untill started using insulin. If one is wanting to be the most muscular possible, then cycling it I feel is a must, just not using it all the time. All things in perspective.

I think it can be used intelligently like on a cruise or trt dose to keep fullness. That said I ran lower dosed year round 2022, and this is when total, ldl really went too high for liking. Started on a statin, this year, help get it down to more managable levels , 10 mgs crestor.

Heres a podcast , starting at about 1:19:58 on insulin. 126:00 Kurt is on defence on insulin a bit, on how it increases cholestrol.

Funny how you want to come on my thread and ignore my response and real studies explaining what’s happening.

Start your own thread or put your “opinion” in your log. Lol

But don’t try and spread more mythical nonsense. Not what this thread is about.

Did 4iu pre-workout using information in @bbxtreme thread, last two days.

Only change was to add about 30g of carbs in the intradrink, compared to what I usually drink.

I do not train carb depleted whatsoever. No other changes, but pumps were way better. Placebo? Doubtful, I am and old grizzled skeptic.

Pumps and fullness should be the main thing you notice initially with using insulin. You’re headed in the right direction.
