Alleged Louisiana Law Change for HRT Scripts

So the clinic I go to recently changed their price structure and now you pay when you refill your script. Along with this change they now claim state law only allows for 5ml at a time to be refilled where in the past you would receive two 5ml vials per prescription refill. Has anyone else heard of this or is the clinic just trying increase their profits. I haven’t seen anything online that confirms what my provider has told me.

In my state my endo can only give me a month script. My pharmacy has to call it in each month. Basically every 28 days, I’m eligible to get four 1ml bottles

Yea the only thing I saw is that the law now required baseline/routine bloodwork and some other things to minimize “misuse” but nothing specifically limited quantity. I pay out of pocket so it’s definitely not an insurance issue, I’m leaning towards the profit angle

I know Dr that charge for refilling scripts as there is a medical code for that and insurance companies will pay for it if iot is coded correctly. When i want a refill i have to see my Dr as that is his policy which means i see him every 3 months and he would charge my insurance. Before he went to not accepting insurance and went to a concierge service

FDA requirements state that an injectable compound is no good 28 days after the stopper is pierced, unless labeled otherwise Years ago my trt doc was forced to start writing scripts for 1ml vials rather than the 10ml.

The doctor can put DAW (dispense as written) on the script and write it for a 10ml vial. Then the pharmacy has to give you the 10ml vial, but not all doctors are willing to do this. My doctor told me if he were to do this they would still need to replace the 10ml vial monthly, and the rest would be wasted.

If there still giving you 5ml vials they're giving you more than a month's supply, I'm not familiar with any of Louisianas laws. It sounds like they are trying to make more money.
