Alpha Lipoic Acid is supposed to mimic insulin (by shuttling nutrients into cells) and increase the Glut-4 receptors on muscle cells. What I'm wondering is, could large doses of ALA be used during the low carb days on a ketogenic diet in order to basically replace the anabolic (or anti-catabolic) effects of insulin?
