This is the 2nd time in 5 years I had an ankle injury.
In fact, this is the 2nd semi-serious injury of any kind Ive had in 5 years.
Last time, I used some methods I learned from Paul Cantazaro's article:
https://www.t-nation.com/training/radical-methods-of-injury-rehabilitation
The last injury resulted from landing wrong when catching a rebound. I think one of the main culprits was wearing running shoes while playing basketball.
I might've been sidelined for a few days, maybe a week at most, I dont specifically recall.
But in this instance, during an 8 mile hike, I was running backwards, then as I switched to walk forward, Ive must've positioned my foot incorrectly and felt something a little weird, the pain wasnt crippling but I knew I fucked up somewhere somehow.
(Its been 11 days since I injured my ankle)
Because of the massive social group during this hike, my adrenaline must've numbed the pain significantly because afterward going home, it really fucking hurt.
I was limping around walking as best as I could.
The day after, I started using the band/traction methods as illustrated in the article, been doing this every other day or so.
The mobility/health of the ankle is probably at 70% now.
Ive been trying to educate myself as much as I can in my spare time, came across this:

After deciding to setup an appointment with my doctor a week later.
She had my foot x-rayed, should be getting results this upcoming week.
But as I asked questions, she lifted up my shoe and based on the wear/tear areas, she said I should be initially striking the ground with the inside/ball of my foot, not the outside of my foot and the heel.
Ive been trying to change my foot positioning, changing how I walk, in accordance to her advice. She prescribed NSAID, Naproxen, which I will NOT take.
Instead having been loading up on Curcumin and Fish Oil.
I dont know if this is the correct way to walk...?
Sounds silly but I figured Im going to do a lot more walking in life, might as well learn how to do it right, haha!
As Ive been changing my foot position while walking, its almost like my knees, calves, shins are grinding/nagging.
Maybe this is a normal feeling for trying to transition into correct bio-mechanics for all the years of walking incorrectly
Is this true, should we be using the ball of our feet at first contact with the ground?
