Anti-Virus ? ? ?

Microsoft Security Essentials (free, integrates perfectly without any bloatware), plus MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Plus, the main thing is to be smart about what you do on the net.

Your post is interesting.

Your post is interesting.

I also use Security Essentials with MalwareBytes. Security Essentials has missed some stuff in the past but MalwareBytes usuall takes care of it.

^^ Not talkin about which program is great...and which is best.

Most of them NOW have a free version.

Why?

They are planting cookies to track your activities (me thinks).

I use Avast, MalwareBytes, SpyBot Search and Destroy and Zone Alarm.

You guys that are using Microsoft Essiantials, its OK and better then nothing, but that's it, just OK. Avast is a better program and has more features to it to protect you online on offline, without bloating your computer with crap you don't need.

Holy Christ...i'm not talking about "which is the best" and who has a Bigger dick.

I'm talkin motives...

Get it?

Where is Rory...?

Hence why I stated the above. ;)

I think bubba is the only one who gets what i'm talking about (everyone else wants to brag about which is best...i'm not concerned with which is best)

IF the program is FREE ....what are they doing to make money on you? NO COMPANY spends money without trying to make a profit.

GET IT?

THEY must be using that info to track your activities...AND selling that data to whomever will buy it (companies purchase data all the time---big business).

Funny....on some of my machines....i don't even have anti-virus SW and they work fine....no viruses EVER.

On my main machine...i have AVAST and it says it picks up shit...all the time....or SCARY PART IS....Knows which sites i'm visiting...and even warns me of MALWARE on a particular site.

NOW...how does it know which site i'm visiting?

HOW does it know a site has a virus?

You can't get a Virus from a site unless you download something....(or you have the unfortnate bad luck of being directed to a site that automatically downloads a code to your machine).

I asked Rory to chime in....hopefully he makes it over here.

THEY must be using that info to track your activities...AND selling that data to whomever will buy it (companies purchase data all the time---big business). Of course they do. You agree to the software collecting information in the privacy policy which most people never read. Most software have two completely different set of docs. End user license agreement and that states you agree to their separate privacy policy and agree to any changes that may occur to the policy.

Funny....on some of my machines....i don't even have anti-virus SW and they work fine....no viruses EVER. Must not be looking at enough porn :D

On my main machine...i have AVAST and it says it picks up shit...all the time....or SCARY PART IS....Knows which sites i'm visiting...and even warns me of MALWARE on a particular site. The reason it tracks ALL your sites is to try an find an orgination of a virus or malware, and which site it came from.Thats how they can warn you because they have tracked back malware from the site on other users.

NOW...how does it know which site i'm visiting? Keep in mind everything you do on a computer can be recorded and logged.

HOW does it know a site has a virus? Your software on your computer wont know it has a virus until it detects it. You'd be amazed how a simple command can infect your computer without your knowing. But it may recognize the site and warn you that its detected virus from the site before. Imagine a centralized computer that holds the data from thousands of users. A random person visits site x and his software communicates back to the computer and tells it everytime it finds a virus on a site. The main computer logs it and communicates with all the computers using it to warn the users it has detected a virus from site x.

Answers above in bold bro. Also if your running a mac get a program like Little Snitch to track any program trying to communicate outgoing connections. Works great and you would be amazed how many programs track back info. Little snitch gives you the ability to block all transmissions or just allow certain ones.

As far as government interaction, I dont believe they are run by governments as a shitload of people would be going to jail for computer crimes lol. But data is power and companies do pay huge money for information.

Hey Hey...there he is!

Thanks Rory.

I'm not a neophyte with computers...i know what cookies do and how companies MUST make money.

Kewl...i wasn't sure...but i am now. I knew those companies were selling that data...and some of them are selling to the government.

There is a guy in my home state...that is a billionare....became one by becoming a government contractor.

Guess what business he's in?

He sells data to the US GOVERNMENT and LE...and he designed a program (or more likely hired a programmer) that mines data from various GOV. sources.

Under the auspices of trying to catch Child Perverts and Molesters....he sells on an international scale. Took his company public...and cash in on the stock.

Anyway---the fcvker i'm sure is involved with developing new software and anti-virus programs...free of course...HAHA.

Thanks Rory!
