Antibiotic in case of abcess

In case an abcess happens,what's the best antibiotic one could have on hand ?

I'm thinking of augmentin (AMOXYCILLIN+CLAVULANIC).
What's your opinion/experience ?

Talking about treatment in the first stages of course,when it's still red and warm for more than 3 days and it's not just an irritation from solvents etc and not about treatment needed later on ,that's where everyone should go to the er.

keflex, rocephen and doxy are good ones. The rocephen is an injection, other two are caps.

Amox is recommended most. Euryth is next.
