Ebay is the best bet there's aguy based in Poland which I guess is near you that does very good deals on Soligen and Dovo straights. Here's his account.

Personally I use a restored turn of the century sheffield steel but unless you know how to hone best to stick with a new one to start with.

To begin with you'll need: A razor, I reccomend a 1/2inch half hollow, this way you can get a feel for it and see if you'd like to go up or down in grind or thickness.

a strop, I prefer a paddle strop with one side linen and one side leather

a brush, natural hairs are best, apparently badger is the best but I've noticed no difference.

shaving cream, do not use normal razor cream

and something for aftershave skin care, I use Palmers coco butter.

Take your time and learn how to strop properly

Straights work great on body hair too, I've stopped getting the razor bumps at the belt line since making the change, ymmv

Bought my first straight razor yesterday. Crazy this thread would have been started!

I have used badger hair for a few years and it's very nice.

Will definantly do more research before my first shave
