Anyone use these home units to up their proteins with meats or fish?

If so, how do you weigh your foods then?

I use mine all the time , mostly for deer meat but I do alot of fruit also , I don't weigh it at all as I don't eat enough at one time to realy account for anything.

I just chalk it up as added protein ,I eat very little fruit mos of that my kids get but I love bananas and may eat one banana worth per sitting.

Ahhhhh man you made me miss Virginia. Deer Jerky is amazing and very low in fat. I used to keep gallon sized zip locks full of that stuff and my freezer always had tons of deer meat in it.

Don't understand your question about weighing your food
unless you are trying to ascertain the weight to establish
protein content. In that case, I would think you would want
to weigh it before you dehydrate it as the dehydration
process removes the water, would not remove protein. You
don't weigh your other food after cooking do you, so why
would you do so in this case?

Just my 0.02 cents worth . . .

Yes, all my food that is weighed (chicken, beef etc) is cooked weight. Cook it, weigh it, zip it, freeze it.

8oz raw steak is different than 8 oz cooked...raw weight is very inaccurate. Not that i'm looking to dehydrate steaks lol

I don't like Salmon at all , but I've been tol;d that most folks that don't like it cook end up liking it alot when its dried , I'm gonna give that a try soon
