Any Electricians? 220 Volt line installation? Suicide mission?

Id be very careful around a hot panel.. and id also be worried about insurance coverage should something go wrong with a DIY install..

Good idea. Yeah, main thing I would worry about would be an elecrtrical fire. If something were to short out, anything could happen. I would spend the$200-$500 or whatever it costs for the piece of mind. I wonder if insurance covers do it your self electrical ciruits, something you might want to check on your policy!

If you do get someone, just find you a company or guy that owns a business if worried about risk. In most states, you can be licensed...but it doesn't mean you are insured.

Going rates in my area are $80/hour. Experienced guy would have it done in hour or less. That and parts should have you out for $150 or less if you just want the piece of mind.

so are some of you guys twice as afraid of 220 as you are of 110?? LOL
my advice is do it... if you can run to the library ( or hell ,,,just google it ) .. just follow step by step .. I have done many wiring projects at my house ..have a readers digest book that even tells how to wire a 4 way switch )
always remember step 1 ..flip the main OFF LOL

Electricians get paid because people are scared of electricity, its not hard at all. Watch some videos online, talk to someone at lowes, make sure everything is off wear gloves and shoes blah blah blah, all the obvious stuff. You'll be done in an afternoon and save a ton of money

very good info here///run it in 12-3 dedicated 20 amp circuit. first go find the right receptacle. the treadmill has a very funny male end on it. buy a single gang box. turn off the main if you running it in the inside breaker panel. if not pull the meter on the outside box if running it there. easy peezy job. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO BUY MORE GEAR :headbang::headbang:

i was also an electrician before i ventured into the automobile industry.

Stewie i was I.B.E.W LOCAL 441

it really isnt hard at all.but i would pay an electritian to do it.so this way i have peace of mind my crib wont burn down to ashes when im not home some day.and if it does well atleast my insurance wont give me crap over it.that sjust me though..spend a little save alot

Triathalon Coach-

............so.....you are having trouble with a hot box again? ;) :D

I remember your old stories!

Its easy if you can use basic tools and understand a few different electrical numbers. Like a few posters already stated #12 wire and a dual 20 amp breaker will probably do the trick unless you have a long run to the panel. red and black are your hots, white is your conman, and green is your ground. you can use grey pvc instead of steel for conduit, 3/4 inch will work and you can buy all the curves or offsets you need pre made. Biggest rule is to make sure power is off at panel and all connections are secure before you flip the juice back on.

Ugh. And I mean ugh. Why do you think I moved from NJ to Georgia? But unfortunately moving a boy to the country doesn't make him a good country boy. I have found that Southern accents can be very appealing. But 2 years later I still miss my NJ hot box. Maybe I shouldn't have flipped that switch. She was the 220 of MILFs. But it's nice not having that addiction anymore. That mantra is repeated often. But for naught.

Oh, btw, the treadmill is hooked up and now actively gathering dust.

The end.
