Inspired by the sneakerhead thread a few weeks back- anyone here enjoy nerdy and/ or pop culture shit here when they’re not lifting?

By nerdy shit, I mean video games, RPGs, sci Fi / superhero / fantasy movies old and new, comics and graphic novels, shit like that?

And by pop culture, you know what I mean, latest cool tv shows , animation, Marvel crap, etc?

Obviously I’m into a lot of that (“Old Man Logan”, 🙄 🤷‍♂️🤣 kind of a dead giveaway).

Just curious because surely I’m not the only biohacking nerd who is also into bodybuilding… right..?

You arent alone. Even one of the mods has jumped into sekiro in the past. Ive played persona 5 and old school stuff like chrono trigger. The one I need to get around to are Baldurs Gate 3 and Metaphor Refantazio. Those are huge time investments though.

Im into gaming, some anime (Berserk mostly), computer hardware, tech in general, etc.

I was into the first phase of marvel movies. Now, I sound like a curmudgeonly old man because I hate the majority of what is being shit out in movies and on streaming channels.

I was absolutely pumped for the Electric State (a graphic novel about a walk across a post apocalyptic US). Well netflix bought and it's a 320 million dollar pile of garbage....see what I mean? :ROFLMAO: I WANT TO LIKE these things but they are simply creatively Bankrupt cash grabs.

I will say I love the new Dune movies.

There arent a lot of us but there are definitely a few of us.

Magic: The Gathering. Civilization. DND.

Berserk! Guts had... issues... :ROFLMAO:

Use to be pretty deep into Escape from Tarkov on the PC until I switched jobs and took into bodybuilding more, now it’s just league of legends on my free time lol

Ever since i was a kid i have been the classic nerd, played magic the gathering, built my own water cooled computer, built small platic models of tanks, soldiers etc
did some software programming as a kid in an old program called borland pascal, im pretty much the old stereo type of a nerd, still play Diablo online but cant build models anymore as my hand shake to much and dont have the time for programming.

I play video games. COD with my kids and F1. Read a lot about ballistics and things like that too, as I’ve a bit of a shooting/reloading obsession.
Nice, I used to reload and compete in bench rest- something very Zen about that..

Yes, i grew up in the prime square era so grew up on original FF games and Chrono trigger/cross. Still play Diablo 2 and brood war with friends as a nostalgia thing as we all live in different parts of the country now. Play d4 also, but just kind of bored with it. Still playing through elden ring hundreds of hours later. Played WoW through all my college years

Have a 5 year old son who is currently obsessed with Marvel so getting to watch through all the marvel movies with him has been a blast.

Huge list of nerd-dom here.

Retro video games - I have a self-built 4 player arcade game. Plays every video game ever made plus full library of all consoles from Atari 2600 to Playstation 2. We have an Xbox Series X but I keep a PS1 and original NES as well.

Used to love RPGs - Ultima IV, Bards Tale II, Autoduel, more recent Morrowind (tried Skyrim but didn't get into it). Shooters like Doom, Half-Life, Counterstrike, Battlefield 2 on big 32v32 maps and organized team play. Japanese RPGs like Zelda never did anything for me.

Read and watch scifi and fantasy. Obviously marvel/DC. Still have my comic collection. Last buy was a 1968 Silver Surfer 1. Before that about 15 years ago I picked up some impossible to find 80s independents on the cheap. I don't collect much of anything anymore. Spent so many hours on ebay and internet researching all the old toys, games, computers, cars etc. I'd collect vintage PCs too but I'll leave that to others as I have a full emulator collection and all software sets.

Rounding it out. Travel, surfing, shooting/combatives, vintage race cars (mostly Porsche, been to Historics and Rennsport a bunch), home theater, music, etc... Obviously lifting/training. I guess my home gym for sure. Love having it and every piece in it. My kids/family.

I dont think youve played the new doom from the sound of it. Doom 2016 nailed the atmosphere.

Doom eternal (2020)...what a ride. Its some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Total power fantasy. Its go-go-go and absolutely murder demons while platforming. Its perfect to the point they are slowing it down for the next one because they perfected speed and glory kills.

I could not believe how fun Doom Eternal was while I was playing it. I cant recommend it enough while we are waiting for the new one (which no matter how good it is will play completely differently than eternal).

Seriously, check it out.

Not a heavy gamer but super excited about the new Doom game coming out. My son and I are grabbing that the day it comes out. I played the hell out of the original Doom as a teen.

Bro, I dont know how old you are but if we grew up together it would have been a friendship for life most likely.

If you sat around playing doom on a 486 listening to metal, we were doing the same thing.

I can not express how awesome it is to see someone else say they couldnt get into skyrim...I played that game and all I found I loved about it was the horse that could go anywhere.

I played the hell out of BF2042 and Battlefield 2.

I still have all my comics. Xforce #1, etc.

Did you play guitar, drums, etc? I assume you did. Our arcs are very similiar. Did you have a sick parent and a sibling with 15 years of difference to you too? 😃

I assume most guys would turn the cable onto the playboy channel in an attempt to see some titty so I wont even ask and just assume.

Used to nerd out on games all the time, don’t have the time anymore but those will always be some very fond memories.

Learned to type on a computer on the original RuneScape, dabbled in some osrs, halo, the COD series, several expansions of WoW

Nowadays I like playing chess because I can just run blitz games that last 3-5 mins (or sometimes less) which is much more convenient than the time sinks of most MMOs

We might have been separated at birth. And I play guitar, toured around NYC and Europe in the late 90s🤣
