So I just built a new gaming computer with Asus Striker Extreme Motherboard, Intel duo core 2.13 ghz processor, 4gb of RAM and an 8800 GTS 512mb video card. Thing rocks! Got a good deal on a Gateway 24" widescreen. Might have to add another 8800 GTS to this bad boy. Its all housed in an Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case with the wicked blue LED lights inside and see through case...Razer Tarantula keyboard and Razer Copperhead mouse..with Razer Headphones... Man...talk about getting in the game!

Really falling in love with Crysis and Call of Duty 4. You guys played these yet?

Also, you guys see the new Duke Nukem trailer yet? Looks awesome. He's doing some mean bicep curls and Duke looks stacked!

Hey Bro... definitely. I play COD4 on line all the time. Have to do something now that I am retired. LOL
Bought a killer pc from alienware. Their top of the line gamer unit. Fucking amazing.

FPS single player here. I've got a Dell XPS710 Extreme quad core with 8GB RAM. Dual boot 32 & 64 bit so I can utilize over 3GB RAM. Are you running 64 bit? Source engine (HL2) runs incredible on 64 bit. So much smoother and the graphics are better. Soundblaster Fata1ity drivers are a little screwed, as you have to use Vista 64 drivers because they dont support XP in the newer revs, and the old rev REALLY sounds like shit.

Before I went back to school, I played, but mostly RPGs; D&D type stuff like Neverwinter nights, Dungeon Siege, Diablo 2 LOD, etc... I enjoy them and they cost 10 bucks to buy and can play on an 1 +- gigahertz machine.
Forget paying 400 bucks for an SLI rig to play high def games: FPSs I need a pot of coffee just to get ready for.

Im in the process of building a gaming rig from digitalstorm. Unfortunately alienware was a tad expensive but i could still get a killer rig for under 3k.

PS - Crysis is the shit...

Installing 64 bit now! Thanks Kaiser! I must check this out!

When you install it, Set your pagefile to about 12GB right off the bat so that it is not fragmented, then you will not a special boot level defrag later. With Half Life 2, it will usually say in the top left hand side very small, "64 bit mode". You can see the visual differences here:

That combined with the new support for multi-core and multi-physical processors Source engine really rocks.

WOW! Quite a difference!

YIPPEE!!!! YAHOO!!! Kaiser! You Got It Goin' On Man! Thanks!

I setup the page file. Just to let you know, I'm running Vista.

Let me ask you. My Asus MoBo came with three temp sensors. What should I monitor with these? CPU? What Else? Vid Card maybe? Sorry. I'm a Noob trying to get my feet wet...:D

...and I wanna play around with overclocking too.... think I can overclock both the CPU and Vid Card....

...and then I wanna patch digital signals into my cerebral cortex for the Ultimate Experience! :D :D :D

I would monitor CPU first especially if you are going to be overclocking. I Quad Core Extreme is overclocked comfortably from 4 X 2.6Ghz to 3.2 with no problem. I would also monitor the vid card. I am running an 8800 Ultra and it stays fairly cool, but nevertheless, I would still watch it as it is a high dollar item. Lastly, throw one in between your hard drives. Incidentally, if you get tired of Vista, I believe you are licensed for XP 64 by default as a downgrade. Games run so much faster on there for the moment, but of course they cant take advantage of DX10 which some of the new games coming out will utilize.

all of this money your dumping into games you could donate some money to me since i need it more :)

Thanks! This Sounds Excellent!

Just reading the Februar Edition of PC Gamer and that was the video card they felt to have the best value currently. I'll post up some pics when I get back in town...
Cheers!

AMD 3500+ winchester core OC'd to 2.55 ghz 1 GB crucial ballistix OC'd to 230 something and ATI X800XT platinum. Awesome computer....2 years ago:). It still runs everything I need. I'll be upgrading this year to something equally as stupid and unnecessary for the respective time period. I started online gaming with Ultima Online back in '97, greatest game ever. Started gaming in general with Intellivision. I even had Pong. And to take it one step further I play pen and paper D&D once a week at the age of 29. Yea, I'm a gamer. Which is a bit of an incongruent juxtaposition considering I'm a not fat 6'1'' 240 and growing.

Yep I will smash any of you at COD4!
Crysis I just finished Single player, haven't tried multi, but my sytem still can barley handle it, with 3gb ram, [email protected], 8800gt OC'd to 740/1900/1100.
Nvidia's new 9800GX2 should be out late next month, I can imagine that should be able to handle crysis with every thing on medium with smooth play.

What OS are you using?

Do I smell a challenge Dave 19? :D :D :D How did I miss out on this? hahaha... Well...you probably would kick my ass in COD4! hahaha. I finished it on Medium Level and I guess its time to kick it up a notch! hahaha

All the ProM guys may need to form a team together and go stomp some!

I have a XFX 680i lt sli mobo with a intel core 2 quad q6600, 4gb ram, running 2x8800gt alpha dog gpu's. Still trying to figure out how to properly over clock the cpu. Any tips or hints?

And I just bought a Antec Nine Hundred case, man this thing is great.

Download the newest drivers from nVidia if you have'nt already.
Change this reg entry to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"CoolBits"=dword:00000003

Reboot, then open nVidia's control panel. Show in classic mode which is easiest to work with. then you will see the overclocking tab. Make sure you take them up gradually and even. If a game starts to lock up, back it down to a lower clock or you have a chance of burning your GPU.
