The price is vastly dependent on the area that you're in.. An urban area in the Northeast (in the vicinity of NYC or Boston), is gonna be the most expensive in the country.. But you could have a similarly qualified Dr. in South Dakota doing the same surgery for maybe 1/3 of the cost.. You obviously don't wanna cut any corners on the qualifications of the Dr, but that doesn't mean that only the good Dr's are in city charging the most.. It would obviously take alot of research tho, to find a good Dr. elsewhere..
To take this even a step further, there's a new phenomenon called medical tourism.. And it's people setting up their surgery in a foreign country.. They're going to India usually, where they have smart well-trained doctors and all the new high-tech stuff - except the cost is usually 1/10 of what it would be in the US.. The reasons for this are 1st of all the US dollar converts into a hell of a lot more Rupees, and 2nd of all doctors don't get paid so much in India.. Plus they speak English too.. And I've read stories where people are very satisfied, saying how it was a very comfortable stay, being pampered with everything planned out and taken care of..
