Any guys with SI Joint issues??

If you have access to kettle bells try 2 arm swings. You would be suprises how much you feel in your hams and glutes and core. That was the first I started my journey back into lifting with.

Yes I had adjustments but they made my problems worse. I still squat light weight but using the smith machine only.

yes i will definitely throw those in the mix

good to know! i will see what my xrays and such show tomorrow and see what my clinic states as well

i wanna try bumping this thread before creating a new one, recently i have purchased an SI belt i wear it about 1 hour per day,

what else do you guys suggest for issues? its only my right side, sitting is the worst

I have had the same issue off and on for years that is usually brought on by using a leg press and going too low with it, I quit using it and now only do squats to parallel mostly on a smith machine with my feet out front so my spine stays vertical, hack squat machine, lunges, extensions and curls. I rarely have a problem anymore. One thing that has helped when it flares up is a heavy vibrating back massager that I place on my on my lower back while laying across the bed. Hope that helps.

thanks man

today i was able to do squats but it gets worse anytime i bend over to put the weight down, the chiro did help yesterday tho

Did you get any relief between the years between your posts? I hate to think you were dealing with that pain for 4 years. I recently was diagnosed with si problems and came across this post while searching.

you've probably already tried this but piriformis stretches can provide pretty much instant relief when my SI joint is acting up.

Worth a try if you haven't already

I have been dealing with this I think. Sldl is aggravating the hell out of it and now it hurts when I wear a tool belt.

It hurts like down deep in my but cheeks

I have also found that it's more related to exercises where there is a forward bend. Squats are ok providing I can stay fairly upright, which usually limits the depth so that I don't go "rock bottom" anymore.

Piriformis stretches have probably been my greatest source of pain relief so I tend to think that it is tightness in those muscles that is sort of pulling the SI joint "out"?

Still suffering with si problems too, there are days when I can barely sit as it seines up so badly, I would love to hear from anyone who has overcome the problem, my stretching routine helps but if it seines nothing helps except pain relief and rest.

Leg presses and stiff leg dead lifts are the worst things for me and oddly so are heavy seated shoulder presses, I have really noticed my shoulder development shrink from not being able to do them as often.

Does this si belt thing really work?

I have been having bad pain too and see a chiropractor now which helps some. I also bought a teeter inversion board and it is helping. I have been doing three 5 minute sessions of hanging each day and it brings down the inflammation. The problem is though that when I lift again it aggravates the condition and I have to start over again. I stopped bent over rows and SLDL and that helped a lot. I find though that even doing squats with baby weight seems to inflame it. I have pain down somewhere in the lumbar vertebrae too. The doctor said no problem requiring surgery and the xray looked ok too. Lots of daily stretching helps too.

Does anyone know some really good stretches for the piriformis that I can do on my own? I haven't been able to find much on that.
