Any ideas on how Lee Haney trained?

I was watching a old video made around 1988, Haney was in it and he quoted "the name of the game is quality, not quantity". Makes me wonder what type of program he used.

The Spandex !!

Oh man that show was cool for us bodybuilders then. I remember saying "C'mon Bev" Bev Francis was jacked too back then. I wonder how Lee is doing ??

I don't think there was anything unique about his training. 20 or so sets a bodypart, multiple exercises. A basic high volume approach just like most champs of his era

Saw him at a show last year.

Looked great and healthy.

Was super nice. he actually approached a 17 year old that was with me and offered a photo. Had a great little conversation with him about how important it was to study study study nutrition and understand how it all worked.

Great guy.

I try not to look at what a guy like Lee Haney or Ronnie Coleman do for their diet or training. They started out as freaks, so their training didn't make them.

Look at a guy who started off as a middleweight and worked his way up to be a heavyweight. If I were seeking good ways to train, I'd say "wtf are David Henry and Shelby Starnes doing that I'm not!?"

I dont want to know this because I want to train like him, Im just asking a seemingly simple question. He said "stimulate not anhilate" "quality not quantity" this sounds like a lower volume approach, if people dont have an answer for the question dont F$%king POST!!! ahaha just kidding im not like that.

Anyone remember that big bloated dude that trained with him on the show?Hainey would continually say "come on amateure" and that guy would be steaming inside! it was hillarious, lee knew it was pissing him off but kept saying it over and over.
He was Joe Weiders boy forever preaching the principles and making videos etc..I was a fan of Hainey. He had a workout show a couple years ago that came on about 5:30 a.m. on a christian network.

I'm pretty sure he trained with weights.

I once read he hit the muscle twice a week....Modreat wights with high volume training......

He was a believer in a 6 day split hitting a body part 2x a wk. High volume as most back in the day. He is still around with a fitness show on one of the Christian networks and promoting his own line of diet supplements.
You can find out more on his site.

Lee Haney was doing a series on TBN, a Christian channel, I think once a week. It was called TotaLee Fit. I am not sure if he is still doing this or not. You can check if you like.

Haney always stresses focusing on the mind muscle connection. feeling the wieght and your muscle moving it, rather than just throwing the shit around like a barbarian in the gym. He stresses that every persons muscles are stimulated in diffrent ways. so u must find that way and then focus on the conntraction.

Back/shoulders
Chest/arms
Legs

Done twice a week. The "stimulate don't..." was meant on not training to failure or at least not too much.
