As i have gotten feedback the one thing a few ppl have said is that i lack the mass on top of my shoulders and i need a little more thickness in my neck and surrounding area...A area i know i have to work and have worked for many years but never seem to develope..

I have donre shrugs till i was blue in the face from dumbells to barbells wide and narrow grip to uprights wide and narrow to supersets ..am i missing something here...
 
Have you tried them from behind your back?
what about heavy deads?

i've always felt dead lifts hit the traps the best of all, My friends used to tease and say i had no traps but the seemed to have caught up now. I think once you get them to a certain size they start to come into play on alot of exercises, rows, side laterals, overhead press etc, but the intial develope is hard to get at times.

When u do regular bar shrugs, don't try to go too heavy, go up and down pretty fast, don't do any peak contraction stuff. just burn through the reps. wide grip uppright rows work the shoulders really well and traps too. pull the weight up but also shrug your shoulders a lil bit and squeeze when you perform them.

dead lifts
power cleans
snatches these are all great exercises too.

here is a link to a cool exercise for traps, this would be an easy exercise to incorporate into your routine if the the above ones don't fit in

Thanks you Rajjin and Conan....in all my years i never ever did deadlifts and i have started doing them the last few months and i do love them for what it hads been doing to my back thickness and shape..

I never heard of doing shrugs fast till the last few weeks then i have had a few friends tell me that they have gotten great results out of ding them that way..i will do all your suggestiosn and let yo know what worked best for me...
