Any knee broscientists out there?

Arthritis is not age dependent. It does not care and can and will hit you anytime it feels like. I've had arthritis under the patella ( kneecap ) since I was 23 yrs old. Your work and life style play a major part on wether or not you get arthritis young or old.
What kind of work does the OP do ? What type's of sports has he played in the past ? Does arthritis run in his family ? etc, etc, etc

You are correct, but you would have to do some serious abuse to have arthritis at that age unless it is rheumatoid.

I've also had osteoarthritis of the knees since 23. I was not overly active or abusive to my knees by any stretch. Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. It is rare though... Every doctor I see that looks at xrays of my knees is always like wtf??

Knee's

Try synvisc injections. I get then every 6 months for my dislocated knee caps.
It helps out a lot. its not a cure but if it works you will be able do pretty much every thing. I use synvisc one. I also use to use orthovisc. but it stop working.

Could be inflammation of the quadricep tendon. Could be chronomalacia(I have both along with osteoarthritis).... Just like Bio said go get a second opinion, take some ibuprofen twice a day, ask the doc for diclofenac sodium an only take 3x a week at most(don't want to burn receptors) and warm up your knee daily without any weight added to it(hinge the entire leg so that tendons get blood) and train smart until you have more solid answers

Jump to surgery? You are mistaken...the knee had a minor issue years ago and I had needed surgery. ...another issue pops up years later, family doc sends me BACK to the Orthapedic Center to have it re evaluted and an MRI......no jumping here, I've tried every joint supp u can imagine and it changed nothing

I'd talk to john161 on here, I bet he might be able to help you out or point you in the right direction

I realize everyone is trying to be helpful but without the MRI report its just guessing. Its like saying my car is making a sound but cant really give any more info that that. In order to give a recommendation you first need to make a diagnosis.

Post up the MRI report and we can go from there. Next time never leave the radiology outpatient center without a CD with your images and then later on get a copy of your report for your own records.

It could really be a lot of things, but at the age of 26, arthritis is really the last thing I would suspect. Can you get a copy of the MRI report and post it? Also, depending on the quality of the MRI things can be missed(i.e. Simon Med sucks). And even with a good quality image, they are not exact as well as they can be misread. Over the years I have had many patients where I have disagreed with the x-ray report or mri report and sent them to a specialist whom I trust where they saw things on the MRI that the initial doc missed.

100% correct. The man knows what he is talking about.

I have yet to meet an internal medicine doctor, orthopod or PMR guy who can CONSISTENTLY read an MRI correctly. Thats why you do 5 years of a radiology and then year long fellowship just to interpreting MSK MRI. Those doctors might make the patient think they read them but the reports will often reference exact series and images numbers point it out. Also not every radiologist reading MRI is MSK fellowship trained. in private practice or telerads sometimes they just read whatever comes through so as you can imagine the quality of the reads varies. It also varies based on the magnet used. It should be illegal to have MSK MRI done on open magnets. It should all be 3T unless you have hardware.

Yea your completely right, best thing at this point is wat muscle96 said an yes do not leave without a CD of the images. In the meantime do everything in your power to not make it worse. Good luck, knee problems are a burden and EXTREMELY aggravating to say the least

Gotgame & muscle96ss u got me hopeful with this. Don't want to hijack OPs thread so I will start my own. I have been thinking about starting a thread for this for like last 2 months. I have MRI scan & radiologists report done on NHS. Would you be kind enough to have a look please ? Also how can I upload MRI from DVD for you guys to see, I will find out if I can upload to Google drive n send u the link may be ? I trained as a Physio ( physical therapist in USA) but had a career change & now work in IT) so i understand a little bit about knee anatomy & biomechanics. Scan/ report reads normal . Thanks
