The other thread got me thinking and I started googling. That didn't produce any results because I'm not even 100% sure what exactly I should be searching for.
Im looking for a component that can apply braking pressure to a cable if the cable experiences sudden acceleration past a certain speed. Preferably something that would allow me to set the desired speed at which the brake applies.
The device should be capable of bringing a weight of 500 lbs to a full stop under these conditions.
Acceleration over 8 inches that matches falling at 9.8 m/s^2
Then, when pressure is released, the brake releases. A. Fully mechanical device ice with no electronic components would be preferable.
