anybody work in the department of corrections?

No. I was interviewing with an investigator in his office. Lie detector was at a different place
Lie detectors aren’t terribly hard to pass. They measure heart rate and perspiration most of the time

If you don’t know how to beat it psychologically, then Beta blockers can help counter the physical aspects of the methods they use

Solid rec on Hector Bravo. I follow him. Watched his Vlad interview. Seems like a quality guy
That's my dawg! Wit my Grammy nominated actor client conejo .

He is in thew Jason Statham movie also

CDCR is not a jail. It is the CA prison system, meaning that convictions consist of a year or more. I interned for CDCR’s office of legal affairs for a year, where I evaluated employee misconduct, working with their attorneys as a legal assistant (I’m a law student).

They’re desperate for officers, and for good reason. It’s a tough job, and the turnover is high. They are expediting applications so if you don’t have much dirt on your record you’ve got a great shot. OT is plentiful if you want to work. Earning potential is decent.

Feel free to ask any specific questions you have and good luck.
Lmfao that part

What’s your reasoning behind pursuing this career path? Not sure how old you are, but assuming 30s or older at least? Why now? It sure can’t be the pay. I’ve always looked down on these people as an inmate and that’s saying a lot for the rest of society in the free world.

someone has to do it

Someone has to clean toilets too. That’s not much of an answer, but okay. 👍

basically just heard it's a career with decent pay, solid benefits, and it's more or less the same thing every day

kind of what im looking for (working in a jail, not a prison - that is)

Forty some years ago I worked at a juvenile detention center. One day 2 incarcerated youths recognized me. I had to slam one of them. A few days later the police were at my door. Someone had destroyed my car that was parked in the street. I get to work in my second car. Both of those assholes were laughing about my car.

I can confirm. I was the car

Pay is better for CDCR, County is not great, especially considering where you live. You wouldn’t be able to afford a 1 bedroom apartment on your own out here with what they’re paying, let alone a mortgage. Think about that for a minute.

Interesting. I also interviewed for juvenile and they straight up told me I wasn't a fit during the interview they were not going to hire me. Then I applied years later for correction and at the final interview the warden told me my interview was the best they've had and asked me when I could start lol

Don’t imagine I’ll be placed in a position overseeing the youth

Those kids would have found powdered glass in their oatmeal

Everything that happens in prison happens in jail . The guy that killed 3 people started in the jail were he came from the streets and hasn’t had a chance to except his sentence.

i see.. well, at least where im at, the people in the local jail are there for low level (mostly drug) offences..

if someone is wanting to turn their 6 month stint into a life sentence in the penitentiary because they shanked someone who pilfered their apple sauce then i guess it is what it is

Fleezy your miserable enough already brother. Pick a different career path
i've had worse jobs lol

So find something you will enjoy bro.

I always pictured you as one of the guys from the movie office space 😅

Politics controls a lot of jobs. The county I worked for was highly democratic for years. A new Republican judge was elected and within a month the majority of the detention center was let go.

Why was everyone let go? I don’t understand
