Anyone attending the Emerald Cup?

It has usually been standard procedure that the after dinner place is Azteca Mexican restaurant.

Been there many times since 2001...great show...not a good venue for such a large show.

I know the Maydenbauer (sp) theater is very spendy for the show, but it is well worth it. YOu can fit all 50+ booths in there...the CASIno does not have the room nor does it have the ability to lodge that many people...well hell the casino does not have a hotel attached to it. YOu have to stay 30mins away. PLUS!!! if you are under 21 and not competing, you are NOT alllowed in there....casino rules. BRAD and ELAINE are great people and I hope they get one of the best shows out of that small place. BEAUTIFUL CASINO!!!! just not right for a show of this caliber.

I agree.

In fact, I chose NOT to compete at the Emerald last year because of the change in location as I felt the mystique and prestige was just not the same. I remember in 2005 how amazing it was to be a aprt of that event with all of the amazing booths, as the expo is top notch.

They did confirm that 2012 will be back to its original roots.

However,

The actual casino staging, lights etc....is VERY good. just terrible expo compared to meydenbauer.

I competed in my first Emerald Cup in 89 then the Rose Cup in Portland the following weekend. Last year was my 1st show in 21 years. Had to learn how to diet all over again. I was happy being the masters heavyweight runner up. I won the Wa. Heavyweight open class a month later. This year I'm way ahead of the game. I might end up Lt.Heavy I'm 47 but feel up the the challenge to compete as a open, we'll see

Steak I completely agree... The Meydenbauer Center is fantastic, and the Casino not so much. But I'll be there, ready to go...

I'm 5'6 and I agree Lt.Heavy is my goal. I'm in better shape right now than I was at the Wa. I'm 213 right now I was 223 at the Wa. I want to compete as a lt. Heavy at the masters national so I'll test the waters at the cup.

wow...5 6' and 213 in shape is very respectable, you are right that light heavy would SEEM ideal. But hey the scale doesn't matter if you look good right....either way, good luck my friend.

I liked the show more in the old days when it was held down town at the Paramount or Moore theaters. Seemed more personel in those days. Guess I am just getting to old!

Greg Welch is looking fantastic....my client Justin who won the overall at vancouver last yr...... is on level playing field for the cup and he is thicker than shit....

I just need to keep sucking him down to light heavies.

It'll be a good show. Unknowns show up and keep you honest. Just prepare yourself and come in tight and ready. Maybe I'll get to meet you when Mark does my shoot next me.
