Anyone care to take a stab at this?

I would assume sleep apnea because if apnea goes untreated it damages the heart, which might cause some chest pain especially doing rigorous activities. (Student nurse)
I would suggest that anyone who works out regularly and carries a decent amount of mass get screened for apnea

Hey, I’m the friend.

Had a sleep study. No sleep apnea.

Also saw a rheumatologist and they did a full blood work up for auto immune and I believe they tested for lymes. Only thing was low vitamin D. By time I had blood work up with rheumatologist (which was several months after it started) creatinine and liver enzymes were back in normal range.

I had 2 stress echos. The first one showed slightly elevated pulmonary arterial pressure. The 2nd stress echo and the cardiac catheterization (which is considered to be much more accurate than stress echo to gauge pap) showed no elevated pap.

Some of my symptoms fit rhabdomyolysis.
Never had kidney issues other than the slightly elevated creatinine, but the intense muscle pain, irregular heart beat/palpitations and nerve pain can all be symptoms. Just grasping at straws at this point.

I’m kinda at a loss. Just want to be able to get back to normal activities. In general would say I’m improving but it’s incredibly slow progress.

Again, I'd like to thank everyone for commenting in this thread. It's greatly appreciated.

So...talked to my friend. He said he saw a Gastro and they did not find a hiatal hernia. He also had a CT scan w/contrast but they were looking for a pulmonary embolism, which was not found. Lymes Disease is something that was not looked at and he will be looking into it. Celiac & Crohns do run in his family.

My friend now thinks that all of these symptoms were related to the gear he was taking because as he says, "symptoms went from 0-100" without any progression or buildup. He took the same three supplements (30mg/day Tbol, 50mg/day Var, and MK677) 2-3 months prior and had a bad chest cold and developed difficulty breathing while laying down. He stopped the supplements and symptoms subsided pretty fast. A few months later he started up again with the same supplement regimen and the symptoms came right back but this time when he stopped the symptoms continued.

In terms of progressive heart failure, he said that his breathing while laying down has improved and he hasn't taken any diuretics nor has he had any water retention in his ankles. Not sure if that rules that out but that's what he said when I mentioned congestive heart failure.

Because of the timeline of the onset of symptoms in relation to the gear, he believes these symptoms were an adverse reaction to one, some, or all of the gear. This is his opinion, not mine, and not a doctors. Whether or not he shared with any of the doctors his usage, I do not know. I'm no expert on gear and haven't touched any for about 15 years but did dabble back in the day (I educated myself through the boards and was not some newbie blindly using or abusing) and certainly used some questionable bathtub brewed shit myself but I (and him) are at a loss in terms of how these reactions could occur from the gear he used, especially at the low doses. Like what kind of ingredient would cause such severe reactions? Even if the shit was dirty, the sides still don't add up. Systemic infection, Anaphylaxis...that's not what he had.

He's due for a physical soon and he said he'll receive every possible blood screening (his wife has excellent insurance).

Any more input again is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
It wouldn't shock me that it was gear related. I had heart failure once due to it. My ef was down around 35%.

ef was normal.

Also may have had some edema in my chest/pec area that has subsided.
That's great news. Some strange symptoms and so many tests coming back normal.

I don't think it's a coincidence though that your symptoms went away when you stopped the gear and then came back when you went back on. I hope you tossed it all.

Gave it to a guy I know to see if he has any better luck with it… haven’t heard from him in a year, hope all is well.

Kidding, tossed it all.

Good decision. I flushed all of mine after my heart attack. Took me about a hour.

I don't know if it will be the same, but my sister got Lyme disease from a tick, and she has had weakness, nausea, and loss of appetite for many months. Forget about exercising or even getting out of bed.

She did tons of gut tests, and finally that bacteria turned up.

Your friend could have something similar.

Good ole Borrelia burgdorferi. Which reminds me of an excellent investigative journal book about the govt's secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory located about 20 miles SE of.....Lyme, CT. Nothing suspicious about the location of the lab and the information contained in the book. If any of you all are curious, the title of the book is Lab 257 and the author's name is Michael Carroll. Damn good read.

I’m sure the cardiologist would check this but the two people I knew with congestive heart failure couldn’t lie down to sleep due to the issues you described. They had to sleep upright in a chair or they felt like they were drowning. Lasix was one prescribed drug along with dijoxin. My friend had an enlarged heart to the point it couldn’t fully contract which caused fluids to back up causing the drowning feeling.

Only a blind cardiologist would miss CHF after viewing the standard modalities assessed via 2-D cardiac echo.

It's not rhabo otherwise you'd be pissing coca cola-colored urine +/- your kidneys would have already said "bye bye."

A lot of lyme test are inaccurate. If you spend time outdoors. I'd find a lyme Doctor and get the full panel test. I was a false negative on standard test. I happened to switch doctors and she was a Lyme specialist. One sign is you get a lot of edema when taking antibiotics. I'm not trying to diagnose you. But you want to rule it out.

I was thinking of going back for a follow up with cardiologist to see about getting another echo to see if anything has changed in past 18 months and a halter monitor to see if the frequency of palpitations has changed. Will follow up about lymes disease as well.

I do really feel as though what I’m experiencing is directly related to what I was taking. I was taking same combo in September 2019, had the shortness of breath but also had a bad chest cold. I stopped taking supplements, cold went away and everything went back to normal. I attributed the shortness of breath to the cold.

I was then off for a few months and used same combo again in january 2020 and shortness of breath at night came back within 3-4 weeks. I immediately stopped but it was too late.

So you're having heart arrhythmias? What sort of trouble? I'm guessing they found some on an ekg? A Holter monitor would be a great thing to do if you feel like you're still having arrhythmias now. You'll wear it all day long while doing normal activities like lifting weights.

A healthy heart can have pvcs occasionally. If the rhythm problem gets worse while you exercise, then that has its own indication.

PVC’s. I believe when I wore the holter monitor they said they occurred less than .5% of the time and that they do not treat for that. I haven’t done any “normal activities” since it happened. I’ll go for a hike or a leisurely bike ride with my kids but that’s about it. I never had any arrhythmia’s previously.

One time I was in the car with my wife and I started having a weird muscle spasm right at my sternum. My wife said it felt like a baby was kicking in my belly. I thought that could have something to do with my diaphragm? I’ve had that same spasm a number of times.

. 5% is probably within normal limits, not sure. When I was having them in the hospital, pvc occurrence was about 40%. Felt like death.

Don't know about the spasm. The trouble swallowing and that could be neurological problems. Cranial nerves could do that. I'm sure you mentioned it to doctors.

Part of me wonders if you aren't just paying too much attention to everything and that maybe nothing is wrong. The mind is a powerful thing.

Nothing is wrong!

(Hopping in my car, on way to gym to do a few sets of 585x5 deficit dead’s and run some sprint intervals)

Will report back.

Another weird symptom I just remembered about when it first started happening.

I couldn’t hold a muscle contraction, like if I tried to flex my biceps the contraction was very very weak.

I also had difficulty swallowing when it first happened if that info is helpful in any way.
The spasming and heartburn could maybe be a hiatal hernia, but I’ve never heard of them causing the other symptoms
