just got bloods back for full blood count

haemoglobin is 200 (reference range 125 - 175)
RBC 6.40 (reference range 4.50-6.50)
RDW 14.7 (reference range 11-15)
HCT 0.61 (reference range 0.40-0.55)
platelets 167 (reference range 150-450)

should i be really worried ?
also i didnt drink before the bloods were taken so i was most likely dehydrated
could this be the problem ?
is there anyway to fix this without donating blood ? donating blood is not really an option at the moment
there were more tests on the list but the rest were all well in range , the above were what stood out

If you were dehydrated you’re fine. Even if you weren’t platelets are looking good, so i wouldn’t worry 🤷🏻‍♂️

also not a doc though so……

exactly as above, after all your results are perfect except for slightly elevated hemeglobin which is completely normal because knowing life you went to do blood tests when you got up in the morning and you didn't drink at least a liter of water an hour before so this result is normal...

yep didnt drink any water at all as i had to get kids ready and drop at school in a rush
i do drink 5 litres of water a day though
what are the best supplements for lowering haemaglobin ?

you already got the answer - water
i consistently drink 5 litres a day
i didnt drink in the morning before bloods and probably emptied my bladder during the night
but would that still put haemoglobin that high?

we talk about it all the time 😅 and it's not high hemoglobin, it's slightly elevated - you're healthy don't panic

Not drinking fluids before a blood test, can cause the numbers to be higher from the dehydration. I always drink a couple glasses of water and wait at at least an hour or 2 before getting tested. I have had a few friends get the numbers in a better range just by being dydrated before they get tested.

If your worried (I wouldn't) drink more water and do cardio. Granted that's the answer for most things.

I try to drink "Liquid IV" each day because I'm not in the habit of drinking a lot of water. Try that next time you do bloodwork. (1) pouch equals (3) 16oz bottles of water.

An update
Just went to donate blood
They had me hooked up and going and then stopped as my haemoglobin was too high , it was at 196
I was fully hydrated for sure , only came down 4 points

Where so you live ? The cutoff for American Red Cross is 20. At 19.6 you would be able to donate there. In the past I would go to another donation place and their cutoff was 18.4

in UK but im staying in australia for work
there cut off point here is 188, mine was 195 , i misquoted above

another thing i should add
i was on telmisartan 4 months ago
and all these ranges mentioned were fine
so i tried to stop telmisartan and heres where im at today
so ive just started telmisartan at 40mg and ill see where that puts me in 2 weeks
i need to quit smoking too and i might supplement with ip6 and strom sports thrombo max

yeh a couple weeks after with telmi and it went down to 190
hematocrit nearly went into range too in that short time
was going to test again this week but tore my bicep
surgery in a couple days
That’s quick! Good news

Damn! I wonder how it works so quick as blood cells have a life of 100-120 days. Hope it works as well for me.
Speedy recovery
