This stuff could really save us all from possible heart failure later in life...
TAKEN FROM ANOTHER BOARD:
The heart medication you never even heard of
The best kept secret in the industry is this, there are medications that will protect the heart from the effects of steroids, now this is not something to use long term but lets cover the medication first, then the studies linking testosterone use to heart problems. I know that seems backwards but humor me.
Trimetazidine
(theheart.org: trusted cardiology news and opinions)
Trimetazidine is a fatty acid oxidation inhibitor, what this means is that it forces the heart to use glucose for energy, reducing lipid peroxidation. It works by blocking an enzyme called ‘3-KAT’, this enzyme is involved in fat oxidation and Trimetazidine will reduce fat oxidation by about 10% (roughly). It also improves coronary flow reserve which also improves exercise performance. Not only does this medication reduce the oxidative stress that is placed on the heart but it gets better it also raises your HDL levels. Seriously, and yet it is not approved for use in the US, can’t make this stuff up folks. It also more than likely has other cardio protective effects that have yet to be discovered by their method of action AND has been shown to be fairly well tolerated with few side effects and no known contraindications.
You can learn more about this wonderful drug here:
Trimetazidine, a Metabolic Modulator, Has Cardiac and Extracardiac Benefits in Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Trimetazidine: a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials in heart failure -- Gao et al. 97 (4): 278 -- Heart
Dosing for this would be let’s say 20mg twice a day (in the mornings and evenings), this will insure you will see the benefits from the drug and have few (if any) side effects from it. I can bet that most of you will have no problems with running that dose and your heart and lipids will thank you.
