Yeah so I've seen these trucks that drive around and sell beef out of the freezer in the back. I told myself no way I'm I going to buy beef from some dude in a pick up truck. Long story short one of these guys came to my door to try to sell me some meat. Despite my hesitation everything looked very professionally packaged and seemed kosher. I am trying to lean out a bit so I opted for a box of assorted chicken breast and he threw in one box of strip steaks (8...about 10 oz. a piece) for 139.99$. This price was a bargain for all the meat I got. Cooked 2 of the strips tonight........they shrunk down to the thickness of cardboard and were tough as shit! God I hope the chicken taste better! Okay, I'm done bitching. Live and learn.

they probably told you it was leftover from another house and they acted like you were the lucky one who could buy what was left? are you sure you got a lot for your money?

hopefully on the beef you just way overcooked it. i like mine medium rare, this way its not dry and depending on the cut, not as tough. for me the ribeye is my favorite cut of beef and worth the money. i would rather eat a good cut once a week then 2 that are mediocre twice a week

No it was all sealed boxes and the salesman was really nice. I will calculate the actual lbs. of chicken I got......but there are 7 boxes (assorted marinades) with 12 pcs of boneless chicken breast per box. Filled up the rest of my freezer.

Some of those places are good, others are bad. It just depends on the Company. I bought a bunch of steaks as my wife called it "out of the back of a truck". They weren't bad, but they weren't the best quality. They first tried to hit me up for $350.00, but since I live in the midwest and can buy a full half for $500.00 I told them no way. Then they cut the price down to $175.00. It was average quality meat the cut was a little thin, but the cuts were all portioned and prepackaged which made it easy to grab one outof the freezer and cook. You absolute best deals on beef is buying in bulk from a butcher that can sell beef by the quarter, half or full cow. Plus you get the cuts and thickness you want.

This is definitely a benefit of living in the midwest. Lots of farmland and lots of cows. A guy at work sells quarters, halves, and whole cows for about $2/lb processed.

well 80 oz of strip steaks is 5lb, so thats worth maybe $40 at grocery store. And you can get chicken breast at walmart for $3lb, or sams club for $2/lb. So i'm hoping you got even better than 50lbs for this to be a better deal than sams club.

I buy the stuff from guys that drive around here, called "Steak House Steaks".

They throw their game at me, $400 retail, sell to me for $250 the whole box. So I tell him, I'll take everything he's got in the box minus the hamburgers. He'll tell me like $150. I take out my wallet and start flipping through a few 20's and tell him i've got $100 bucks (have even gotten away for less)

The guys around here, they'll take cash once you flip it out..I bargain with them.

Not the BEST meat in the world, but I eat mine medium to medium rare and it tastes decent - especially for the money.

Have tried both the NY strips and the chicken now. Not impressed. Live and learn I guess.
