If so, what have you done to correct this?

Anyone tried a CPAP? What model? Is it worth it?

Any recommendations/suggestions welcome..

Quite a few of us have sleep apnea

I'm sure even more here have it and don't know it

I have a cpap... It's not a choice. U will literally die

10 years strong wearing a CPAP.

Won't go a night without it.

Need a sleep study [emoji20]

Wanted to just buy one without...but it needs proper calibration

ResMed makes several machines that self adjust, I use the Airsense 10 and it works great for me. You will need a prescription to buy one though Look into getting a in home sleep study done, they are inexpensive and effective.

This is the same one I have. I got mine in May. Life changer................

I did a sleep study a number of years ago bc my gf at the time couldn't sleep.. said my snoring sounded like demons were leaving my body. The sleep study was expensive as hell and came back saying my case didn't warrant a cpap covered by insurance.

Fast forward to last fall, I had to get a cpap bc the next girl I dated said we'd have to sleep separately unless I did something about the snoring.

I got a resmed 10 last aug/sept, adjusted the settings over a few weeks, got sleep like i felt like I never had before, gf stayed around awhile longer:) resmed 10 is a life saver... I don't sleep anywhere without it.

I have relatives that don't have a resmed (or an auto-titrating cpap) and they constantly have to go back to their sleep doctor to get it calibrated. Huge money pit and time suck IMO. Hope this helps!!

So...

How do you get a CPAP?

You get a prescription from a doctor and then he orders it for you?

I am pretty sure I dont have a sleep doctor around where I live (on a caribbean island).... can a general practitioner get me a prescription for a CPAP?

Excuse my ignorance...

Do you have a primary care provider? If so, they can set you up with a sleep study and or refer you to someone that specializes in sleep disorders.

I do not use my CPAP as often as I should.

What I found really helps? I have really bad sinuses. I use a Navage, which is a complete game changer. It is recommended to be used twice daily, however I use it once a day.

I have tried Neti pots, saline rinse....Nothing compares. It is not even close.

I can breath so clearly that my sleep has improved immensely, and keeps my disturbances to a minimum.

I have a 22" neck, So, Ya Sleep apnea! Was not bad at 18"...
I hate my machine though. It forces to Much air in and I find it hard to Exhale!!!

i had snoring and slight sleep apnea issues a year or two ago.
I did sleep studies and they suggested i get a CPAP
i also had a friend recommend a retainer fitted to my teeth specifically that pulls my lower jaw forwarded
$800 for it but it fixed my snoring and sleep apnea
never sleep without it

I use a cpap they are hard to get use too. I've had a resmed for 6 months. I have a thick beard so I'm using nose pillows. I usually make it 5-6 hours then rip it off.

I had the surgery almost 20 years ago. Worth while.
As for a god used CPAP try Craigslist.

Any good mask recommendations?

Respironics DreamWear Gel Pillow. Can be purchased from Amazon. Most comfortable I have ever worn, and the fact that the hose connection is up top is a great benefit because you no longer have the hose hanging across your body which can itself cause you to be uncomfortable. Additionally, the position of the hose allows for back and side sleeping.

I cut down on lean tissue and lost a lot of size to cure my sleep apnea.

For me it just wasn't worth carrying around an extra 30 lbs of muscle to have to be connected to a machine each night. Tried it out for a few nights and said screw it.

Definitely feel a lot better and for the first time in years I can actually dream.
