with constant injuries and pretty much living on an ice pack post training im thinking of new ways to go about my training. for years i didnt back off and i know this is partly the reason i am suffering now. i am using de load weeks much more but im still struggling. stuff like squats are still causing my back issues despite using good form and full range below parallel.

i have read several posts from MG who said about slow negatives, im just wondering who has lost some weight off the bar with stricter trainer and gained benefits??

im sick of being injured and sore!! and im only mid 30's
 
I have for the most part always trained heavy. I have used pre exhaust
to give joints and conecctive tissue a break from time to time.
It has worked well and I have made gains that way.
Most of the time my inuries have been from lame warm-ups and then
jumping wt up too quicly from set to set. I have also been guilty of getting greedy with the wt -I.E. having great day and taking big jumps becuase I have used much more wt in the past. not following a nice steady progression
from week to week. Those are the greedy ego injuries that my dumb ass brings upon myself that set me back. Try some preexhaust or I think some call it hit. It can be very useful.

I saved a friend of mine from smashing his face one day :p
He was a fairly strong guy but new to lifting for the first time in years.
He was realy getting after it.... A little way in he was doing Flat bench DB presses.. nothing crazy 80-90 lbs. I seen his left arm go retarded and a DB headed rite for his face :headbang:
 
Funny you should ask. Just the other day I was doing tricep pushdowns on the cable machine and the bar slipped out of my hands, came flying upwards and smacked the side of my face and head. I couldn't figure out how I got hit on the top of my head doing a pushdowns? Oh well.

Maybe switch to machines for a while? I know I go through phases where I just don't "feel it" with the free weights, like my mind is somewhere else...that's usually when I get hurt.
