Anyone Using a Neck and Shoulder Massager for Recovery Between Sessions

Hello everyone.

My neck and traps have been wrecked lately from sitting at a desk all day combined with heavy training.

A buddy of mine mentioned he picked up one of those electric neck and shoulder massagers and swears by it. I am a bit skeptical honestly.

Do any of you guys actually use one of these things or is it just gimmick stuff marketed to people who do not train seriously?

Curious what the experienced guys here think before I spend any money on it.

I use these muscle scrapers and they work amazing for the neck (as well as pretty much every other muscle group)

You’ll need to get massage oil too that way you’re not just using it on dry skin and irritating the hell out of it but they work incredible

Never tried the electric neck ones personally.

grab a lacrosse ball and you use it against a wall, or on the floor to open shit up, cheap and easy, works great

I often use the sharp corner of 2 walls. I settle my bodyweight into it. The i can slide some either way to stretch things out. Almost need a cigarette sometimes after doing that!
Never cared much for things that just vibrate of bounce up and down.

That’s the right impulse.
My guess is stress. Maybe think about what could be stressing you without you noticing.

There’s no reason why sitting should cause your neck to hurt unless you’re sitting in a very weird way 😅

I had serious neck issues, could not turn my neck had to turn my shoulders. Lots of grinding noises (which is not “grinding” actually it’s just tendons rubbing against each other other). My head felt like it weighed a ton, having to balance it on shoulders. My neck got very tired, very easily.

Neuromuscular / trigger point massages took care of it. It has not come back. She said it would take 3 to 6 sessions and she was absolutely correct. I had some chiropractic work done simultaneously but in all honesty, it was the trigger point massages that did it. They were not enjoyable, but they absolutely worked for me.
