Arcade Machines

Anyone know anything about them?! One of the machines in my game room has stopped working and when running the diagnostics when turning on the system it reads a bad rom uj22...I cannot find anyone local that fixes arcade machines any longer, or I get told that they don't carry parts for machines that old, so may have to try and attempt it myself?!

It's the Mortal Kombat II upright arcade machine...Anyone have experience with these?!

You could possibly try and pull the rom chip out yourself and try and reseat it. It's possible it may have a bad connection from dirt or just age. Although it is common sense when working on equipment make sure to unplug it before trying any repairs.

Yeah, I'm thinking I am going to have to take the back off and see what I can do back there...Been googling it and they have some videos out there for arcade repair, so I guess we'll see?!

It still turns on and shows the attraction game play so at least it's not just a black screen...I have that MK II, Tekken Tag, Marvel vs Capcom, NFL Blitz, NBA Showtime, MLB World Series and an Arcade Legends with 85 games in it...Hoping to be able to get the MK II back on par so it's not just sitting there useless.....

If you cant fix the hardware you can stuff a pc in there running MAME, running just your mortalcombat, or can choose to run 1000s of games. Just have to interface your controllers to computer. Not hard. Also interface videocard with your arcade monitor.
I've done a few myself for the nostalgia.

I know what you mean but wouldn't know how to do it myself.....

You have a bad IC Chip (integrated circuit chip) on your main board. It will be the IC Chip labeled uj22. The IC Chip will just pop out with a little work and it should be fairly easy to track a replacement down once you locate it. Your main board will most likely be the largest circuit board that has a majority of the electronic components on it. PM me if you wanna try it and have questions K1.

did you search for an arcade game forum? There is a forum for everything! I found one for my slot machine... I think they had some arcade game stuff on there too. I don`t have the link to them any more though.

Secondly uj22 could be an error code to point you in the right direction. In that case the service manual will be needed. These games are very popular and lots of reference material can be located online.
