Remeron/Mirtazapine.
It is prescribed as an insomnia drug, anti-depressant, appetite inducer for anorexics, and for many other conditions.

Its a very versatile drug. I was prescribed it because it reduces cortisol dramatically.
Using it for adrenal fatigue is very off label, most physicians would never think of it (seems most physicians actually don't even recognize adrenal fatigue as a legitimate problem, they just call it exhaustion and tell you to rest).

How did you get the doc to pin point the adrenal? most Dr's are complete idiots and dont listen , thats an interesting combination of meds, how do you feel these days after being on them?

I had my own blood work done and did my own research online, and discussed it all with my doctor. He was impressed that I took that aggressive approach towards it, so he was pretty open to helping me solve the problem in whatever way possible.

I actually found the studies showing Remeron used for lowering cortisol, and showed the doc some sleep cycle studies I had found related to cortisol and norepinephrine. He was open to trying anything to help me fix the issue.
I was completely relieved of my symptoms with the first dose of Remeron. It just restored me completely, I felt like a new man, it was heaven for me.
I fell asleep in 15 minutes after four straight days of what I can only call horrific anxiety and restlessness, and woke feeling no anxiety and completely refreshed.

My doc is really cool, he is not one of those guys that gets insulted when the patient has some of their own ideas or does some independent research.

Interesting. Have heard of using it also but never looked further. I feel my dopamine receptors are pretty shot, so I’m currently taking a “dopamine” cleanse and eliminating all sources of pleasure basically. Also taking Dhea theanine and a couple other things in the evenings because my cortisol seems to be keeping me from getting good sleep but I’m tired.

I’ll have to look into more. Obviously I prefer to go the natural route and focus on sleep cycle etc first but will keep in mind in case things aren’t working after a period of time.
