PPL is so common for people to follow, but why do we relatively relatively see so much less people doing the arnold split?

Chest/back
Shoulders/arms
Legs

Is it because a lot of people have a shitty back or? Really curious.

Bro, seriously? Another post from you asking about a training split?😅

Just stop overanalyzing trends. Whatever you do will work.

And I don’t agree that nobody uses those splits anymore. For example, torso/limbs is very popular now - one day chest, back, shoulders, next day arms and legs.
People are also going back to older splits, like push/pull where you train all push muscles in one session (quads, chest, shoulders, triceps), and next day all pull (hamstrings, back, biceps).

People use many different splits now and as you can see, everything works.

But you - no hate just from your posts, you keep overcomplicating and always looking for something new. Just pick one approach and stick to it.
There is no revolution here. Whatever you choose can work.

Just do what you like and what you enjoy. Only then you will get results.
Because even the best training jplan won’t work if you don’t enjoy it.

I do what I need to do vs what a program that worked for Arnold when I'm not Arnold. Same as PPL

Both are good, I'm not hitting arms directly so like ppl. Usually 3 on 1 off but im trying 6 on 1 off now...cut back volume a bit since im losing a rest day. Trying to see if I can sustain 6 days a week with the key being workouts are shorter...less volume...because obviously a high volume 6 day probably not the best idea.

can't go wrong with P/P/L rest repeat.....

FWIW I did the Arnold split, 6 days a week and never did PPL 🧐

Been doing my own DC variation A/B 3x a week for 10+ years now.

I wanted to say the reason is fashion, but didn’t. But you kind of prove my point 😆

Unfortunately there isn't a single domain trends and fashion don't contaminate.

So many less people do a BP split? You are a prisoner of the moment sir lol or you just haven’t been following BBing that long.

PPL is hot right noowww. Maybe within the past 6-8 years. Primarily influenced by Jordan Peters. This whole working sets, PPL thing is alll the result of hiiis influence on modern BBing. That just goes to show you what a monster he is. Other than say Dante and maybe Dorian, no one has had more of a say on BBing trends (primarily training but I’ll say drug preference as well with JP) than him. But shit, go back further than that…it was oooonnly BP splits, for a looonng time man. The recency bias is stroong in you buddy 😂

I've been training over 1/2 a century. There are no new splits, no extinct splits, rep ranges, or number of sets. They come and go as "experts" try to become relevant by being different. They become different by going back in time to previously popular ideas that youngsters haven't experienced yet.
But now that I think of it some do invent new ideas by spending 20 minutes setting up a cable and bench in such a way as to do a curl.....hahahaha

I see what you are saying. But ppl is a 3 day split, so is the arnold split. It just split the upper in chest/back and shoulders/arms instead of chest/sh/tri and back/bi.

Still there a lot of people running PPL and not the arnold 3 day rotating slip.

I personally like both of them. But I prefer the Arnold split more and ive been sticking with it for a while now. 3 on and 1 off.

Give everything a try and find what you like, and what motivates you the most. That will matter more than anything.

Chest/back
You clearly haven't done this type of training since you're asking why it's not popular. It's torture and torment, and in my opinion, there's no way you'll do a 100% chest workout after your back, or vice versa. Regardless of training volume.

I have split my body into 2, 3,4,5 way splits and did well. Just depends on where i was in my lifting career, loads, volumes etc. High volume, high intensity. high reps low reps. And they all worked. As long as i ate well and got enough rest. I find what people gravitate towards is what they like to do best so they end up applying themselves better.

It’s simple. Hit 6–9 sets per muscle group, staying 2–3 reps shy of failure (within the 8–12/15 range), with 1–2 minute rest periods. Rest, eat, take your gear, and grow.

Something I have always observed was that people trying to put on muscle /size, and jump right into the classic BB one body part a day split - struggle with adding muscle/mass, even strength.
