arnolds diet

Closest thing I have is in his Bodybuilding Encyclopedia. basically 3 whole food meals/day, 3 home made shakes with eggs, lecithin granules, cheap protien powder. He also said in another book, that he'd go out and eat an entire pie a week b4 a show. He wouldn't diet as hard as other guys because it effected his training too much. Guy was just a genetic freak plain and simple, trained his as off too
 
I also read that in the Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding, 3 meals (nothing special) 3 eggs with toast for breakkie, fruit and coffee...a shake here and there and lunch and dinner...they werent big on post wokout nutrition, sometimes it was meat and beer.
 
I'm not convinced that what is in his Encyclopedia will give us a hint as to what he ate pre-contest. In addition, the remark about him eating a pie one week out....maybe it's possible, but he also is known to create tall-tales just to up his image...
 
No offense intended here but who cares? His diet strategies are 28 years out of date, and no one on here will ever know the right answer. I have his encyclopedia also and it should be noted that there is many contradictions between that and his other writings regarding training and nutricion.
 
You guys could learn a lot about BB from how Arnold trained and ate. Why would someones diet that allowed them to come in ripped be out of date? Arnold had more frontal quad separation and back detail than most of the pros do today. Granted some things like ripped glutes and very large thighs were just not in style back then. 90% of these guys today pro or not don't "peak" correctly for their show. Of course it being rocket science and all it is understandable.

Could you go into more detail about this ??? I mean I look at the guys from the late 80's or early 90's and think they look better today (except for a few guys, Phil Health, ect) and would love to know how those guys did things back then...

In the movie pumping iron he stated that he doesn't drink milk cause milk is for babies, he drinks beer. This followed by a toke on a lefty cigarette after he won the show

Boy this could be long. The short version. :D The main difference today is insulin. Yes GH too, but it takes a few year to really get some negative sides from it such as skin thickness and bones thickness. Most pros are doing 40 to 80 iu's daily of slin.

As far as Phil goes he is doing the same thing as the other guys he just newer to the game. I remember seeing him guest pose at the Pittsburgh show a few months after he won his first couple of pro shows. He was litterally standing 2 feet away from me in his posing trunks and I remember thinking, well I was in shock at how small he and average he was. I also wondered why he wasn't taking advantage during this time to grow. He must have heard me cause the following year he turned mutant. :D Remember the guest posing vid of him I think it was right before the AC? Freakin huge!

Lots of slin and other goodies too. Not that I am criticizing of course not, he a pro and is doing what he needs to do. Oh and BTW, Phil slammed some SYTHELATOR back stage at the Olympia last year, FACT!!! :D

Please figure out a way to share this. I would love to read this info, not just as a bodybuilder, but as a huge arnold fan as well.
 
He actually used beer intentionally for the insulin spike it creates from the carb up and alcohol conversion to transport nutrients PWO. I used to do that all the time, and its fun!
 
I have seen studies that suggest that a couple of p.w.o. beers have an anti-catabolic effect...dunno how true that is.

the only problem is you'd have to have a spotter tell you how well its working - you'll be feeling fiiiiiiine whether it works or not!

Using this much slin every day- wouldnt the body build up a resistance to it and it would become less effective?

Would such large doses of Slin be very effective with AAS but without GH?

No, if that were the case every diabetic would eventually be dead.

No GH needed. Just a myth perpetuated by "someone" to sell GH.

Thank you for quick response, I know very little compard to you and would love to learn more :)

So you dont believe in the every other day or only using insulin twice per week theorys for maximum benefit?

Ive seen alot of people gain muscle using slin with AAS but without any GH, used Post Workout only, training say 4days per week.

So if somebody using slin for mass and strength, for a example a powerlifter, who isnt to concerned about fat gain. Would they use it every carb/protein meal for maximum benefit? Or Just pre breakfast, pre then post workout?
 
I noticed in pumping iron that arnold was eating eggs. In the extra's he ordered "big steak", "scrambled eggs". It may have been 30 years ago, but the man was ahead of his time. I believe he used a ketogenic low carb diet when preparing for contest. These guys knew a lot more then ya think. Back then, I have heard that arnold used dianabol, deca durabolin, primobolin. Close to contest he used anavar, test suspension.
