i have serious arthritis in both shoulders and i would like to know what is your opinion
about the speed of the repetition.
slower and less repetition or normale speed and more reps

my bones rub so i try to find a better approach fot less tension

ok no training is maybe the best solution but i must keep my muscle to move

I have osteoarthritis of the knees.

On leg press, if I try to control the negative as much as I usually do with other exercises, my knees are hurting for about 3 days afterwards. I would assume it's doing some damage.

But if I lower the weight and do a faster negative and more fluid set there is almost no pain the next day.

I can't do a slow lunge without popping, grinding, and shooting pain, but if I do a set of jump lunges (body weight) it's totally fine.

It's probably safe to say that if an exercise is very bad for your joints specifically, that you may have to avoid it and find something else that works.

Regarding speed, I think it has something to do with getting as much stress off the joint as possible. You'll have to experiment to find out what works for you.

Hopefully this helps. Good luck!

I have been diagnosed with arthritic shoulders, spine, hip and sure there are others that I just haven't had diagnosed yet. I use controlled steady form for moderate(occasionally) to higher reps then I used to in my younger days. With a range of motion that does not cause joint pain.

As buck already said, rather than changing your rep speed, I would look into (shortening) your ROM instead.
