Back surgery official

Well it's official, I will be going for my back surgery on May 24, 2010. I've gone through 3 different chiropractors who all said you need surgery, one therapist who does epidural steroid injects which said I need surgery, an orthopedic who said surgery and a neurosurgeon who said surgery. Looks like this is my only option. I went with the neurosurgeon Dr. Thompson Carson who is out of Sayer PA. I ask that you guys just keep me in prayer that I have a speedy recovery. I should be alright being I'm not in horrible shape but I'm still nervous about having someone cutting into my back. UGH!!! Anyhow thanks in advance for the support.

What are you getting done, the microdiscectomy? That is so minor you need not worry about a thing. You walk out of the hospital the same day if it's done in the morning. The hole in your back would also not be that much bigger than the hole some of us created after our first injection so once again, no worries!

Best of Luck my man! I have been looking into this procedure lately as well. I herniated my l5/s1 about 2 years ago. The injury pretty much crippled me mentally for about 8 months, I didnt go to the Gym for about 7 months lost 50lbs. So 3 epidurals later Months of Pt as well Im pretty good now, with the exception of my range of motion in my right leg is still limited to like 45 degrees.But it still prevents me from doing certain things I would like to do in fear of causing it to Flare up on me too. Havent done squats or Deads in 2 years either : (

Good luck bro. I have been cleared for a microdisectomy but I'm feeling better now so I guess I'll wait until my next flare up to convince me. Please let us know how it went and your progress.

I was wondering what was going on with you. As i have posted in your other thread...we have the exact same problem. I am going for my secong epidural this month, and if there is still no relief; then i am going for the surgery also. I will say a prayer for you brother, but i am sure you dont need it. Stay strong and god bless you. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks bro. for your words. I appreciate this a lot. I was going to go with the epidural but the therapist told me that it was just going to be a waist of time with the size of my herniation I was better off going with the surgery. I will keep you posted. I really do thank you for the prayer bro. Pax.

link24, thanks bro. and I totally understand. My left leg is shot and hurts like a mofo. There is a lot of weakness in my left leg and I guess you can say squats are out for now. I have not had a good workout in over a month and definitely dropped a good 10lbs. I am determined to bounce back hard. So I can not let this put me down. I'll take it slow and steady but the minute I get cleared I am getting right back into it good and hard. I am going out of my mind sitting around but I keep telling myself it is just for a short time. Thanks again bro. Pax.
