Baking Soda Slows Kidney Disease

HIw do you recommend?

I personally suggest a half of a teaspoon twice per day, on an empty stomach.

You risk a possibility of stomach rupture if you consume sodium bicarbonate on a full stomach. Which hasn't been mentioned by the OP.

Sodium bicarbonate also interacts with several different prescription meds. A few of the Rx'd meds are used by several members here. Namely, antibiotics and antihypertensive meds.

If I was to consume Andreas Cahling's concoction, I'd supplement with potassium or at the minimum up my K+ enriched foods.

If you are taking ephedrine, I'd limit the use of sodium bicarbonate. Otherwise it can increase the potency of ephedrine.

Interesting. And what benefits are you seeing from doing this Stewie?

The Apple Cider Vinegar provides 11mg of potassium per tablespoon.

The Himalayan salt provides 84 different minerals.

Most of the participants consuming sodium bicarbonate in the study were on anti-hypertensive meds.

Third time I've heard this... first person to post support from studies thanks

Some ketogenic diets recommend to increase sodium in the form of Bouillon cubes.

This drink will not only provide sodium while on keto but will also prevent ketoacidosis and protein acidosis.

Agree or disagree?

I also think this drink is great for fighters. One way is to super hydrate with this water before a fight to buffer lactic acid (as long as you don't piss yourself during the fight.)

Is this bad for proper electrolyte balance?

Would appreciate any input on this.

Mainly as a buffer agent. Also a shift> in pH increases neuronal activity, in contrast, it's lessened by a fall of pH.

Basically, it helps with cognitive function.

Sodium bicarbonate in large(r) doses such as the 30+ grams recommended can in some cases cause transcellular shifts of potassium, potentially resulting in hyopkalemia-metabolic alkalosis. This could be especially concerning if one was to consume this on a daily basis, without the additional intake of K+. This is all relative to the individuals renal function and their respiratory rate.

The 11mg of K+ in ACV is minute in comparison to the upper 4,500+ milligrams daily requirement.

Here's an interactions list; there's several antihypertensive drugs listed:(sodium bicarbonate) dosing, indications, interactions, adverse effects, and more

And yes, there's a potential of electrolyte disturbances.

Trying out 1 tsp Baking soda and 2 tsp Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water in the morning upon waking and an hour before bed at night. Don't know what to expect but if it's good for you then why not.

i would be careful if you have heart issues.
I was taking baking soda daily for ages. 1,5g pre workout and 1,5g post workout. (so around 5pm and 8pm, bedtime around 10-11pm)
After my incident in May, ive stopped for 2-3 months and then started again.
took it for around 3 weeks and during this time, had massive issues with bloat and especially breathing at night/early morning. Probably due to the gas it builds or whatever.
Ive stopped taking it and 2-3 days later the issues were much improved (not perfect since my heart is still weak but much better than when ive took baking soda)

Why were you taking it? Performance benefit?

I use a bicarb based acid reflux product and imagine it improves my workouts.

I use potassium bicarbonate to regulate acidity
