I have no idea how this will end up. But looks like, Pre-contest, offseason, no matter what....its uncomfortable to be a bodybuilder at all levels.

And still we keep going on... who's to argue BB is about as addictive as narcotics? We are junkies. The mirror, or for some the scale, makes or breaks our day... just like the up and downs associated with drugs.

Yeah but look at the other side. Sometimes when your life is shitty for unrelated reasons altogether, you can always look in the mirror, see the physique you built, and be proud. It's one thing you always have that you can be happy about. One piece of your life that you have control over when other things get out of hand. Because let me tell you something, when you're a fat depressed miserable fuck, looking in the mirror ruins your day.

I really, really wish I could articulate this better. Hopefully some of you understand/agree.

True, but it was a nice change from the last several times I've gone out. Girls wanted nothing to do with me. When I was 215 I couldn't keep them off. I really enjoyed seeing the jealous looks on the guys faces, the same guys that make snide remarks under their breathe as I walk by.
 
This is one reason Im glad that I am 6 foot 3.

Even if I get over 230-240 (dont plan on getting any heavier then that)

I still dont feel so bogged down.

I do get winded on steps though.

Try and keep the cardio going all year round to help the heart muscle keep up with the other muscles.

And Im good

The thing about being a bber is you have so MUCH control. you may be outa shape right now and in 12 weeks drop 40lb no problem and be shredded. the average person cant fathom how we go up and down at will with our wt.

for a bber....dropping 20lb is nothing. like a walk in the park...the average person will try for YEARS sometimes even with the help pf a nutritionist and still not achieve that.

A very good point by Lucian. Most people think a 20 pound loss is a HUUUUGE achievement. That's jack shit to a bodybuilder. Interesting.

A lack of motivation/drive? I think so, but a lack of knowledge too. Most people don't know anything about nutrition/fitness. The majority of people think you get ripped abs by doing tons of situps.
 
I think it could be lack of drive but I really think its laziness and or lack of knowledge like some have touched on. In your average gym you see the same person look the same way for years. They may be doing alot of cardio but they don't want to eat properly. I've talked to some guys at my gym and have given some tips on their diet, they just think eating healthy sucks. Its finding the right foods that work for you.

and not to mention trying to pick up chicks when you look like you could crush em with one hug. Youre not a chick magnet sorry. I got way more attention when i leaned down for my shows.

LOL im always careful when i hug Kari, and sometimes am scared to hold a baby...just cuz i dont wana hurt them by mistake. even when i play with our cats im really careful to not be the Oger that i am sometimes. :)
 
As many have mentioned we are so motivated and can lose 10, 20 even 30lbs with no effort for the most part, we can eat the same meals day in and day out. We can take hundreds of pills a day, drink water all day take numerous shots a week of many different supplements and go to the gym and lift all day BUT i'll be damned if one person says "hey did you stop working out?" "Did you lose weight?" (when your trying to put weight and and our day/week is ruined.....:D

Most of us are very fucked up in the mind if you think about it...hahahaha
 
This thread jumped out at me... I have been asking myself this question recently... was up to 280 right before leaving for the olympia in Vegas... for me, you start seeing sides in musculature of the heart over a certain point, never had these issues while hovering around 250 mark...now I am holding 265 or so natty for the last 7 wks... I promised myself to recomp and never let myself get that much above 270 again, just not necessary...rather gain a lb or muscle and lose a lb of fat over a longer period of time...fuck, may slim down, get healthy and attempt male physique ;) honestly, those guys are gonna be a lot healthier than us bodybuilders... if you need help in the clothes department, hit me up, found some that look good and still fit for the most part...

Until you get involved in training a very widely-spanning demographic, you may think that's the case. Experience teaches you otherwise, especially when you're dealing with naturals.
