I think there are a lot of factors and certain movements can contribute. Although you are correct and a prime example is Chris Bumstead who is classic physique champion and squats and deadlifts heavy weight all the time.

Ben looked fantastic. Well done on your placing.
 
I believe that a wide waist or big stomach has more to do with genetics (wide hip bones) and the massive calorie diet than with some training movements.

I find it hard to believe that he did not win the overall, I think he was better than the boy who won. Anyway he got what he deserved, the pro card. (y)

Thank you everyone for the kind words but I honestly think Shelby deserves just as much or more credit. It was so cool to see my body improve LITERALLY every meal between waking up on Friday, through prejudging all the way until finals on Saturday night... Especially since with my previous coaches I just got worse and worse the closer we got to the show. Shelby is an absolute genius and we only have worked together for about five months. He's agreed to keep me on and I'm really excited to debut as a pro with his help, but not for a while -- I still have a lot to improve on in addition to my powerlifting meet in 6 weeks!

Damn....your going to do a powerlifting meet in 6 weeks? Amazing 👏..after being that lean then powerlifting 6 weeks later...WOW!!!!
 
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe Ben is the only ifbb pro men’s bodybuilder to also hold an all time powerlifting world record total. Pretty crazy
 
Yep... gonna be careful and listen to my body, but if this prep goes as smoothly as the bodybuilding one, I'll try for the American record total at 242. If not, I'll play it safe and just have fun!
