Sounds like your on the right track. These guys who say the 400+ is average....smh. You don't see many guys tossing 400 around most gyms.
Like someone said earlier, BW @ 10 reps and you're doing pretty damn good.
Benching 400 lbs for reps use to be WAY more common 20 years ago than it is now, especially among bodybuilders. Remember, back then, and prior, bench pressing was considered mandatory for maximum chest development, so guys would often become very strong on the lift.
When you have 99% of all BB'rs equating a big bench with a big chest (which was the mentality back in the day), then you will end up with a whole lot more big benchers compared to today, when probably less than 50% of BB'rs bench press with any consistency and even less shoot for big numbers.
