Any recommendations? I understand that black dudes hair follicles grow out of the root in a different manner than white hair does.

That said, has any black or black/spanish dudes here gotten hair surgery before? If so, what were your results?

Good question. I'll bump before the obligatory post where someone tells you to shave it, lol.

If there was just a simple way to get all this back hair to grow up top, lol...

Which surgery did you want to have, African American hair isn't much of an issue via fut but where it poses a bigger problem is during fue.

FUE is the interest of this conversation. Not having a scar in the back of your head is priceless.

It's the same as white hair transplant. Curly hair just has more coverage which is a better thing. Erdogan in turkey don't waste your money in the US the Dr's are worse yet cost more

No, it's NOT the same, clearly. Erdogan told a friend of mine (who's black) that he wouldn't perform the surgery on his hair because he doesn't specialize is black hair.

He recommended my friend find a surgeon who specializes in black hair as it grows out of the root in a twisted manner, not straight out like white hair.

African American hair is notoriously kinky and unpredictable under the scalp making extraction difficult. Most of the top talents will be able to implant it correctly but you risk higher than average transection rates during extraction and depending on your level of loss that can be problematic. The compromise to offset higher transection rates is to use larger punches which means more visible scarring. Fue is not scarless it is just smaller circles vs a linear scar, when you're forced to use larger punches you risk creating a visible extraction pattern if it is not done well so it may be best to undergo a small test extraction to see how difficult your individual grafts will be as you may be better off with fut in the end if your extractions prove very difficult but the docs will decide that. In terms of specialists for difficult hair, Dr Umar, he's made a living out of extracting the toughest hairs, he built a tool especially for this purpose. I'm not the biggest fan of his design work, but he is probably the most capable to extract your grafts without an obscene transection rate. The next best bets are in Belgium, Dr Bisanga Lupanzula or Mwamba...just the reality Black men trust black doctors with their hair, they will have the most experience in clinic. Dr Lupanzula is the only one of the group that takes care of extractions himself and would be my recommendation for you but all 3 of them are excellent doctors and all do very aesthetic work that imo is better than Dr Umars. That would be my short list to begin consulting if I were you.

I appreciate your feedback. I care not about the color of thee doctor but the quality of their work.

I'll look into the names you've listed for sure.

Dr John Diep (mhtaclinic) Bay Area seems to know his stuff. He has a YouTube channel with demos too.

Dr Diep is an excellent doc I've recommended him to members here but in this case not the best choice. Dr Dieps extraction work outside of straight forward cases can get a bit messy, for the average person he's a great choice just not here.

I know but just pointing out that in terms of experience they have the most with your hair type just because they attract more Black clients, rightly or wrongly they believe the docs know their hair better than the average caucasian doc. That in turn gave them more experience whether they knew how to work with the hair better initially or not... in terms of skill all are very talented docs. I used Dr Bisanga myself for hairline work. I'm not Black but just to point out how highly I think of him.

you'd be surprised at how uniformed about these things most celebs and athletes are. They're happy to get their hair done by anybody, like this groupie I met told me her plastic surgeon does hair transplants in beverly hills, must be good...there are a lot of hack jobs among celebs being covered up but Lebrons hair is less forgiving and playing sports can't get away with wearing all the fibers and systems to get away with it.

No homo but black bros look so much better with a shaved head anyway. One of my boys had a fro but looks so much better with a shaved head.

Hair is always the preferred solution. Women don't like bald heads. Total myth.

With all this raw steel and twisted sex appeal us men have, we were riddled with these worries of hair loss.

Beats having periods I suppose
