Best blood pressure meds for bodybuilding?

Guys,

I need to get my blood pressure under control. Carditone manages to keep it within range off cycles, but it doesn't seem to be as effective on cycle. Then again, I'm not sure if other compounds would either.

Options:
  • Carditone - available on Amazon ($16/month for 1 tab daily)
  • Lisinopril - available with prescription
  • Telmisartan - available with prescription
  • Other BP drug?

I'm sure this is a complex subject, where there is more than meets the eye.

Is there a strong benefit to taking drugs like Lisonopril or Telmisartan over something OTC like Carditone? If so, can anyone explain why?

I'm trying to get more serious about BP protection, since everyone makes a huge deal about it. I'm open to buying something like Telmisartan if I can better understand what it does.

What is your average BP?

Most people do very well on lisinopril.

My thoughts are

if you are not going to go to the doctor at least get on carditone
if you are going to go to the doctor try to get on linisopril

regardless what route you go try to find the route of the problem and fix it if you can so you can get off the BP meds (if possible)

I have Carditone now, and can order more at any time. It does lower my BP, and lowers my hearrate. It just doesn't seem to be quite enough.

Dogcrapp... do you prefer Lisinopril over Telmisartan?

My blood pressure seems to vary, but off cycle it seems to be in the 120-130s range, and over 80-90.

On cycle I have seen as much as 150-160 over 95-100, while on Carditone.

Neither seems very good.

sent you a pm

I usually recommend lisinopril as the first line of defense in aas users. Best to consult with a doc so they can monitor your trends in bp if possible

You need to talk with your doc and be honest about everything. You can't ask anyone on boards what is best for you because you'll hear nothing but broscience.

I personally take lisinopril daily, 10mg in the morning. Your doc and you will discuss what's best for you to take. You may get prescribed a diuretic vs ACE inhibitor (Lisinopril). ACE inhibitors have their obvious down falls. Preventing angiotensin from converting will inhibit your ability to maintain blood pressure during strenuous activity.

Telmisartan has too many OTHER benefits for me not to take.

Easy to get online as well.

How do you all feel about propranolol for controlling BP?

I use it for other reasons like public speaking and presentations but it does lower blood pressure. Then some cialis in the evening..

my blood pressure was 142/96 or so, my doctor said it was "fine"

I told her she was fucking retarded

and that's when I started getting lisinopril online.. gonna add telmisartan too I think (to hit the different receptors obvi).

The women in your life are gonna make you insane! :D

First line of defense is Telmisartan. I take this without high BP.

Second line of defense would either be lisinopril or carditone if it were me.

Hell if it was really a problem, I'd take as much of this shit as possible. It's still better than having high BP if you ask me.

Can you elaborate why Telmisartan is your 1st choice?

I hear good things about it, but always in vague terms.

Yea, I know what you mean.

I went in for checkups before where I was hovering around 140/90. The doctor said it was "Within normal range, nothing to worry about unless it gets too much higher."

Just google the life extension articles on it that keep getting posted here

IMO go to the doctor and hopefully get on Lisinopril. That is really effective and you probably wont need a very high dose. I take just 20 mg/day and never have any trouble with it. I have been on it since my heart attack and that is almost 9 years. When you cycle and go off or on TRT dose you can monitor your BP and home and get off the drug if your BP drops too low. I had a BP as low as 85/40 and felt like shit. You shouldn't run into that though since you would only be on the one drug. I was also on huge dose of beta blocker and something to control water.
