Best email service to be discreet?

I’ve seen countermail and a few others. Is there a specific one that most members use for personal discussions? Thank you in advance for any feedback regarding pros/cons.

I once had subscription to Neomailbox.net which is supposed to be very discreet, swiss email. But once I opened my email and saw email that had already been read.. and I know I didnt read it. Canceled that account quickly.

Is any email really discreet.. meaning.. if the powers to be wanna read it.. is it easy for them to just get in and read it?
