Best lighting/wall color for pictures

I'm looking for anyone who has experience with taking photos. When you are lean and want to get the perfect lighting with shadows so your cuts are really visible in the picture......

What is the best color of the room? Black? White?

For the lighting...is there a specific type of light that works the best? Or lights off and use the flash on the camera?

Specific camera settings that work the best?

If anyone knows any information on this please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I agree. I take most of my progress pictures outside in the sun.

Never heard of that before. I do see pics of guys posing outside though so there must be some truth to it. Anyone else?
