Yes I remember reading something that platz wrote saying that his legs in the beginning were his weakest bodypart. He himself said that.
I think Arnold refered to him the same way and says Platz is an example of someone that took their weakness and focussed on it so much that it became their strength.
Point is he didn't give his legs the same attention that he gave the rest of his body. He didn't genetically blow up in size only with his legs, he had to work hard to acheive them.
Don't forget he had flexability too!!
