I have a friend who wants to start lifting properly. Had done 3 weeks here 4 weeks there but never stuck to a routine for a period of time. However he want to train with me but I am doing DC 2day split so i think its little bit advanced for him, especially with the Rp and constantly beating the log book.

I don't want him to be in there 5 days a week spinning his wheels like used to but looking for ideas for an effective split for him
 
I'd go with a simple upper/lower split. With wendler 5/3/1 as. The base

U1: wendler bench. Hypertrophy shoulder/tris/pull-ups
L1: wendler squat. Ham dominant accessories/calves
Off
U2: wendler OHP. Hypertrophy chest/tris/ horizontal rowing
Off
L2: deadlift-quad accessories/curls
Off
 
5 x 5 routine

After he builds up some base strength/work capacity add in extra accessory work on it for arms/delts
 
Basic bodybuilding bro split,

Back / bicep
Chest / triceps
Quads / hams
Delts / calf / abs

3 Days off where ever you want them
