well since a few months I suffered from my left shoulder
at the beginning it was only when I was boxing, the jab made me suffer
then I went back to bodybuilding and heavy bench press started to hurt

then a few months after the pain was here when I was doing lateral raise, bench press (even light)

now I feel like my shoulder has a big bruise on the clavicular bone and the therapist told me it was because I had a bone calcification (? don't know if the right english word) ... and the bruise is on my tendon

I started a therapy made of deep massages by one specialist and manipulation by another one
both of them are complementar and both of them HURT LIKE HELL (especially the massage since he , basically expklained, wants my tendon to blood from the inside to make it rebuild stronger)

anybody knows what I should do more than that

both specialist told me I should continue to train though which is cool
but I want a definitive solution my shoulder hurts since 9 months now ... :(

forgot to ask... the therapy you're doing now, is that something you made up on your own or was it a regimine (sp?) that your Dr gave you?

Well stay away from flat bench and other movements that hurt that area...try things that are on a fixed plain...such as smith machine...hammer strength...machines....try to avoid the free weights where you can move the weight around....there is a lot mre room for injury with free weights....

keep up the therapy.

good point!

i have a problems flat benching but i can do flat DB press, which is odd. i guess being able to move the DBs where i want lets me avoid the problem area, if that makes sense. i DO have to be VERY carefull when getting the DBs in position and up on the 1st rep, same with the last rep and setting them down.

Have you had an MRI? I had vertually the same problem. Come to find out I had a cyst the size of a jawbreak along with a minor tear. I'm already at a 100% if not better in just a few months. I went to a doctor who specialized in rotator cuff injuries. He had performed many surgeries on pro and college pitchers. If you're in WI, I could hook you up.
Good Luck.

that sucks man,
in the mean time don't do any thing that agrivates it. Since you don't know the problem advice is hard to give, I don't think rest would hurt, but I would dedicate some time trying to get more information on what is wrong. The MRI sounds like a good idea.

dude i am suffering from a shoulder injury now also. try this... reach across your body and grab you opposite shoulder and push against it. if that hurts it is the same injury that i have and i was told by a physician that it is called AC joint separation. he also said it is very common in weight lifters. he told me no more bench press and military press for atleast 6weeks maybe 10weeks. AC joint seperation is where the ligament that connects the acromium process to the clavicle is slightly torn (grade 1) to completely torn (grade 4). hope this helps, tank..

and I have it prescribed by a DR because I asked for it, a professional boxer who is one of my best friend had almost the same problem and this specialists solved the problem

I hope he 'll do the same for me :(

ya gotta take care of yer shoulders or yer screwed bro. try applying heat before you train and Ice after you train. allow th e ice to go through stages cold, numb, slight pain. I would apply ice several times a day. It helps to prevent basically scar tissue from forming on your tendons. If you have to do everything light and work yer way up to heavy, BE PATIENT. I went through the same thing. be safe and if it hurts, stop or change it up. I would stop FLAT BARBELL benching. Do dumbells if you absolutely have to or do slight incline/decline. Good luck

thanks
in fact I'm 99% sure that heavy flat bench press did that to me cause it's the move that hurts the most now and at the begining of the pain it was my only problem ...

oh damn I almost forgot, try bringing the bar down to your upper abs not to the upper or middle chest. remember bech press isnt an isolation exercise, it is a compound movement so make sure you do it like that especially for your shoulder. it helped me. get the right feel down and youll be ok
