Since 1973 four Illinois Governors have been convicted of crimes and sentenced to jail (including Blago). I wonder if they are going to let him keep that hairstyle once he goes in the joint. With that much hair he could easily hide a shank somewhere in there.

Disparity

There is a disparity n the way white collar criminals are sentenced. I know from personal experience. He got too much time for what he did.
When you are a public figure the government will push their hardest as they did with Wesley snipes and get more bang for their buck. Idea is that all the regular people like us will see what they did to the ex gov and a Hollywood superstar and obey the law. When you are a nobody the govt will treat you fairly, as I said I know from personal experience!,,,

Madoff got his justice. How long is it that he will be locked up? Surely a lot of others though that are free like you said.

And dont forget one of Madoff's sons committed suicide on the anniversary of his fathers arrest. Left behind a wife and young kids. Madoff confessed so his sons would be less likely to be convicted.

Madoff caused an immense amount of sufferring and stole billions for himself. And he was put in Hell before he even died.

14 years seemed like a long sentence even for a scum like Bog. And as an OP said, he has to do 12. And the prosecuter asked for 15-20.

Madoff and Bog were rich, powerful people who didnt need to steal to be way the heck into the top 1%. They are both sociopathic pigs. I have much more sympathy for a drug addict or poor person stealing out of absolute desparation. (send them to jail too)

The appellate and supreme court have begun to erode the federal sentencing guidelines when it comes to their application to these types of offenders. Case by case they will erode these guidelines into nothing.
I personally feel they are too harsh and welcome the current trend.
As I said before if it were not for some recent supreme court decisions I would not be typing on to my iPad right now. That of course and a team of excellent well connected attorneys.

George Ryan got less time for those "Truck Contracts" which a family was killed for and got less time that Blago...............Though I think Blago "spunk" may have added to that sentence he received.
