Honestly i just think this is how the majority of the population is. This is simply how their brains work. Doesnt have to be aas use. Could be anything. Extreme sports, racing cars, partying. No one gives a shit about priorities. They "try" to, or like to think they do, but they dont. The whole world plays with fire until they get burnt. Then they make a reassessment. Many continue to go right back to what they were doing. Its all relative to how badly you get burnt.

I agree. One tragic outcome though can be death and no bad warning blows before. I don't think that it is real common in bodybuilding because most guys have at least one health scare prior.
