blood donation

I tried to donate on the ALYX machine a do double red blood count.

I had a hemacrit of 202 and when they asked me about shots and vaccinatains I told them I get a shot from the DR for HRT and they turned me down. I had to go to my onocologist and get a phlebodomy done. They had to use a 16g needle, a I would clot up a 20.

Whatever you do, dont admit to HRT...They send the blood to a lab and its tested and if its bad they will throw it out.

All im saying this was a blood assurance mobile blood bank. It came to my work. All I know is the guy pricked my finger and he said 202. It could have been 20.2. What is true is they turned me down when I answered yes to when I was asked about shots and vaccinations. Now donation centers my not be the same, Not sure if everyone would defer you if you answer yes to HRT. I know it doesnt matter if women have HRT.

I just had a phlebodomy because I couldnt get a straight answer about donation requirements. I didnt want to lie, in short I just went back to my kidney specialist they did lab work, and phlebodomy was required.

We all know its good and should be done, but if ur on steroids is it still possible? Possibly if ur just cruising on test?
Reason is I got the rarest type and wouldn't mind donating...

Just don't admit to using AAS when they ask in the forms you fill out and you will be fine.

Is Red Cross in anway tied to Lifesource?

Im speculating they took your hemoglobin count and that was 20.2 which would make your hematocrit around 61 roughly.

I dont mean to scare you but if thats the truth you need to act on this pronto and get serious medical attention to fix this now because thats a serious danger zone to a stroke or DVT

Yes, I understand. I currently take metropolol,and norvasc for blood pressure. I noticed it never got my blood pressure down to a healthy level. Tried donation on Wed, after all the fuss, I went back to my Oncologist and had a phlebodomy done Friday morning. I actually clotted up a 20g needle. I started out with a BP of 160/100 and left with 126/88. I do feel better, but my next step is a cardiologist.

All seriousness you should probably be getting regular phlebodomies (every 4 weeks or more, depending on advice from doctor) until your Hct and Hgb #'s drop by 20% or so...

I was shocked at how much more energy I have at 16 and 50 compared to 20 and 60.

My next appt with the Oncologist is May 7th, and if the RBC is high enough they will take more blood. I was only doing my prescribed dose of 100mg test weekly.
