Blood Glucose test , Fruit vs complex

Awesome info bro... Its always good to see more nutrition threads... truly 90% of what we do IMO

HTTC

I'd like to see honey done. I've read conflicting info on honeys effects on BG.

Im waiting on some local raw honey now , i used the last little bit i had lastnight making my wife's cashew butter (that i cant have:mad:)

but this is like those logs where guys test a new peptde while on grams of other gear.
the only way to definitively arrive at the correct numbers would be to only consume fruits, only consuime veggies, and only consume starches. then take respective readings. this will nullify the differences in digestive times vis a vis the other food types, eg fats and proteins.
seriously.

But the food is gone/digested it no longer a factor right??
I mean if you ate rice for a full day meals 1-7 do you think that number would be different if you ate fruit in meals earlier??
I would almost be willing to try and see but if I eat rice or oats all day I'd feel and look like a pregnant hippo cause the bloat the hell out of my gut

10:30am BG 98
10:45am 10oz baked chicken , 6oz long grain brown rice (steamed)
11:15am BG 131
12:00pm 127

1:00pm BG 99
1:15pm 4oz chicken , 4oz tilapia , 2oz LBA's , 8oz mashed boiled red potatos
1:45pm 139
2:30pm 130

3:30pm BG 96
3:35pm 4oz LBA's no fat or carbs
4:00 train
4:45 BG 87

Do you have a good place to buy the test strips? I wanted to buy a glucometer but the dang test strips are over $100 a box at the pharmacy.

it depends on the meter , the one I use the strips are about $1 each so 50 strip is like $50 a tube.

in the big picture it's a worthy investment

OK , so today i went back on my basic diet but added 1/2 a 500mg Gluphage pre meal

4:00am BG 87 (before fasted cardio)
5:15am BG 86 (took 250mg glucophage right after taking reading)
5:30am 12oz fresh pineapple , shake 2 scoops Egg protein and 2ounces LBA's
6:00am BG 99
6:30am BG 104
7:00am BG 101

8:00 BG 92 (take other half of glucophage after reading)
8:15 5oz chicken , 5oz Tilapa , 6oz sweet potatos , 6oz pineapple
8:45 BG 101
9:30 BG 100

10:30am BG 91 (take 250mg glucophage after reading)
10:45am 10oz baked chicken , 4oz sweet potatos , 5oz blueberries , 1 cup asparagus tips
11:15am BG 103
12:00pm 101

So the glucophage does a great job of keeping blood sugar down at low dose and doesnt upset my stomach nearly as bad as 500mg does. Im thinking this is gonna be a staple in the daily lunch box , it is notted that glucophage reduced the production on IGF in some people but IGF1-LR3 in on its way and im sure will more than fix that issue

gun smith do you take r- ala or ala i would love to see results with that as i think it could lower blood sugar aswell ,, but in higher doses maybe try it for one meal if possible 300mg for 5 grams of carbs so 40 g complex 1500 ala or500 r-ala ...just to see what the results are as i have been doing this will all my carb meals for a while now and am able to gain while maintaining 6-8 % bf

It does work , i used a product desgined by John Medows aka "mountaindog1" and produced by "True Protein" and it worked real well compaired to the glucophage and did NOT upset my stomach or kill my appatite like the glucophage does so thats certainly an option. i didnt have any more on hand but had a couple dozen glucophage here.

results compiled

take note of the blood glucose results with a little glucophage added in the last three meals , very very intersting !!

OK , so the question was posed to me

"that's a great study but what about the sugar conversion for the sugar in the fruit? it's still gonna make you fat right?"

I'm not the brightest star in the sky but I was thinking it diden't matter where the carbs came from if it were oat of pure dextrose , all that mattered was the actual effect it had on the blood glucose.
am I out of line with this thinking ??
ive seen so e brilliant minds check in on those post from time to time would somebody please throw this poor ol redneck for Missisippi a bone here?

this puzzles me also. some swear that the enemy is fructose, while others use fruit as a carb source with great results. fruit definitely seems like the better and healthier option....

someone i know just started the weight watchers diet. they have a point system to track your eating and you can have as much fruit as you want. all fruit counts as zero points. i have NEVER seen anyone get fat from fruit!

This thread sparked my interest. So I decided to check my own blood sugar response. I found my numbers odd, but I could be wrong. I was hoping someone could shed some light on why my numbers are responding the way they did.

8:30 BG 79
9:00 1/2 cup egg whites, 4 eggs, 2 turkey bacon, 1/2 cup oats(dry), 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup applesauce.
9:15 BG 108
9:35 BG 139
10:15 BG 73

Is this increase normal for 50g carbs? What does this say about my insulin sensitivity?

so if the body turns carbs to glucose and any excess glucose is stored as fat , does it matter where the glucose comes from weather it be oranges or potatos of straw berries or brown rice??

if the blood glucose spike and duration are the same or very close does it really matter??

I sure would like to hear some other opinions

Spike is different once fats and protein are added. That's why the glycemic index is bs.

that's correct and same for added fiber , but if the same meal is eaten but only the type of carb is changed ??
